Join us for Live Music every Thursday from 5pm-9pm. Happy Hour is Monday- Thursday from 3PM to 6PM. Happy Hour specials include 1/2 off select appetizers, $2 Busch Light cans, $3 domestic draft beer, $5 select well drinks, $6 house wine, and $7 select specialty cocktails. Wow. We are SO glad we decided to try Whiskey Joe’s for dinner as we were driving down the interstate! Not only does this place offer a great view of the Manatee River, but also excellent service (by our very sweet server, Quin) and outstanding food! We had Jambalaya, fall off the ribs Strawberry Guava BBQ Ribs, Jerk Chicken sandwhich…all excellent! But the kids meals! Oh man, their Mac and cheese was the cheesiest! Georgia said their popcorn shrimp were the best but the little touches…their kids meal came with 3 smiley face fries plus a generous serving of normal fries PLUS a kids dirt cake with a gummy worms. They were thrilled! But we all know…service is everything…truly it can make or break your meal, right? Quin was amazing, personable, efficient, attentive…just everything you need and want for your server. Ask for her!!

They have a beautiful waterfront seating option (fans are going) and have a fun beach atmosphere outside with sand, a tropical bar, and beachy decor. We come every time we arrive for vacation to kick us off. The food is also wonderful, especially the scallops. The Mahi nuggets appetizer is delicious and comes with the most amazing dipping sauce! Definitely get it! It’s also never crowded, due to spaciousness, which is a plus. Pretty much no wait as well.

A great local restaurant I found in Ellenton using Google. When I saw that it was right off the river, I was even more excited to try it. I had a very nice experience! I chose to dine outside on their patio. (They even have an option to dine outside in their beach area, complete with sand.) Whiskey Joe’s has a pretty good menu. I ordered the Gator Bites, a cup of their Gumbo, and a Signature Salad with Grilled Chicken on top. It was all so good!

Went for dinner, did the outside dining because the water view was amazing. Took 20 plus mins to just place a drink and appetizer order. The appetizer came out after my dinner. The staff needs to work a little harder to get it right! I will go back someday because the view was amazing and food tasted good.

I worked in the service industry for years. There’s no service, even sitting at the bar. Foods are not the best or even “good,” but the view from the right location for a few drinks / apps with good company makes it a spot to consider tolerating the rest.

We visited a couple weeks ago or so, on a Saturday night and it was alright. The place has great views of the water. The outdoor bar looks great but the place offers a lot to be desired. Our waitress Jasmine was no where to be found. We had to ask the bartender for drinks because no one even acknowledged we were there. After 20 mins we asked the hostesses (which were rude) if we could get service, plenty of waitresses and hostesses standing around but not working. The table next to us was there when we got there and they got up and left because no one greeted them. Service was terrible until they put Edward as our server. He did a great job and did his best to save our experience. The fried food was all the same exact batter, decent seasoning just way too salty. I got the blackened fish tacos and they were bland. Shocking since everything had so much salt. The drinks were the best thing. I don’t know what it is about Whiskey Joe’s but this is the second I’ve visited and both were just meh. I won’t be visiting again.

Fun atmosphere and really like the tiki bar and outside beach chairs. I feel you should get more for your money with the food however. Below is the $32 grouper with the crab and shrimp topping. We asked for a side salad and this is what we received. Dinner took about 2 hours to receive from the point when we were seated.

5 stars is not enough! I took my ten year-old nephew because I wanted to sit somewhere on the water where we could both be happy and damn, this was the place. The staff was the best, the food was amazing, the view was great, and the overall atmosphere and vibe was “11/10” in his words and I have to agree!! He got a burger and I got shrimp tacos – sauce on the shrimp is to-die. I drank a Miami Vice, a mix of a piña colada and a strawberry daiquiri… would love to come back on a date, with just adults, or a big group. They have indoor seating, a covered deck, or a really cool “beach” with tables.
