Overall this is a nice restaurant. It’s large, but where you sit is in small rooms, or at least where we were put. It definitely has a beach bum atmosphere. It was a little weird how we got our food, there were 10 of us and a few of us got our food about 10 minutes apart. The flounder was really good! Overall everyone enjoyed their food too. I’d go back, but not everyone in my group felt it was worth the money.

Am giving this establishment a 4 star because the restaurant was beautiful and eclectic, which I love, we were seated promptly without a wait and our waitress couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating! The food was average in my opinion, the she crab soup was a bit watered down for my particular taste, and while the scallops were very plump and juicy, the breading peeled off each and every one when you tried to eat them, (which made it more like eating steamed or boiled scallops) the fish of the day (Flounder) was incredible! The breading to meat ratio was perfect and the fish was cooked well, not greasy and very crispy on the outside. The hushpuppies also seemed over cooked (again in my opinion) but the service, atmosphere and that fish were enough to warrant another visit in the future, so we’d try them again when we’re in the area. And yes… I DID address my only issues with the staff, not just now, up here, on social media. Everyone has “off” days, so we’ll give them another chance

The Jolly Rodgers breakfast was underwhelming to say the least. We came here after seeing the great reviews and though our waitress jennifer was great our food was not. The sausage gravy and grits were cold. The poached eggs in the Benedict were over cooked, and the food in general just didn’t have much flavor. The mimosa was delicious however the coffee was so weak I could see my spoon to the bottom of the cup, it just tasted like water. Not impressed.

Beautiful night to eat on the deck. Super friendly staff from hostess, bartender, waitress and manager. I ordered the steak bowl which had steak, rice, black beans, queso blanco, lettuce, sautéed onions and peppers and topped with tortilla strips. Great initial presentation. My first couple bites of the steak were tough. I suggest finding a way of serving very tender steak. After the first 5-6 bites the bowl looked like a mess because of the queso. Visually the bowl didn’t look appealing. I would prefer the queso blanco on the side that way I could add as much as I would like as I ate the bowl. The steak bowl has some great flavors but it was being overpowered by the queso. A couple small changes would have a big impact for me.

As always, eating here was a GREAT experience. The fried pickles appetizer was sooooo good with great flavor. I had the ravioli and it was exceptional! The banana cheesecake was also superrrrr good. Best decorated place in the area with the friendliest employees! I recommend this place 100% and I always come here when I’m in the area! 🙂

This is our favorite place to go in the outer banks. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is fun. I personally love the Cajun chicken salad and the shrimp scampi. The mixed drinks are also great. And even though there are a million little trinkets/decor everywhere, the place is super clean. Gordon Ramsey would be proud.

Wait was minimal. For a family of 7, we were seated very quickly. Where we were seated there was an air conditioner, which was blowing out hot air. I told the host and her fixed it, by turning it off…. Ok problem solved… I guess..Wife and mother in law ordered steak medium well. They said their steak wasn’t seasoned at all, and my wife never received her mixed veggies. I ordered the seafood platter, which was good. The only issue I had with my platter was my hush puppies were burnt. My son ordered a medium rare, cheese burger. The burger was well done with no cheese. He was forgiving for the burger not having cheese and that it was well done. He said it was well

My husband and I have been coming to the Jolly Roger since 1976 when we spent our honeymoon there. The food never disappoints!! We had the seafood lasagna and it was delicious! Our waitress was a young lady by the name of Elise and she was personable and so sweet!! She was a delight! A very enjoyable dinner!

This is one of the oldest restaurants in the Outer Banks. Although we have been visiting the Outer Banks for forty years, this was our first time here. I ordered the fish and chips lunch dish. It came with Cole slaw, fries, and hush puppies. The fish was fried, skin on. The batter was not heavy, so it went well with the mild white fish. The fries did not harden as they cooled. They had a nice crispy coating. My wife ordered the feta cheese and spinach omelet, and she loved it! We will be returning to this restaurant.
