We ordered avocado toast, chai latte and cafe latte. Coffee and tea was good, but the avocado toast was average. The bread was hard and the spread was not so great. The cafe is clean and everything is well organized. One of the staff was impatient, and not so friendly. The cafe is located on a busy road, finding a parking in front of the cafe is hard. But yes, street parking is available.

Nice little local cafe. They have a couple of really cool vegan options and also source some of their ingredients from indigenous owned producers. The coffee is okay, probably much better than most other places in the area. I do appreciate that they are brewing with beans from a local roaster, I just wish it wasn’t CBD.

The Independent Cafe was an amazing little breakfast/lunch spot. I got a cappuccino, vanilla latte, and avocado toast/sandwich. The coffees were delicious and so was the food. The service was quick and staff were friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick bite in Bar Harbor. The only downside was no place sit and dine-in or even a bench outside to eat.

Had the best experience going in here. Mila was the best, I think she said she was from Argentina or something. Absolute doll. Made my sandwich with the utmost of care and was the friendliest face I saw all day. After taking the first sip of my drink before leaving, the man who said he was manager (mustache man) checked to see how the service was as well as to see how I was enjoying my maple latte. Gave him my honest answer which somehow lead to a 5 minute conversation about guitars, I think he mistook my saxophone case for a guitar case but it’s okay. We had a good chat and I proceeded with my day. Almost certainly will return

Great little coffee shop with baked goods and unique souvenirs. Attentive staff.

I stopped in desperate for some good coffee, unlike what my hotel serves. I ordered a maple latte which was fabulous and also picked up some Maine wine, hard cider, and chocolate. Very convenient and very good. I’ll be back

I love these types of places and was looking forward to it to grab some coffee and a pastry. However the food selection was quite poor. They only 3 different types of pastries and they all look leftover from the day before. I went ahead and got some coffee. It was pretty weak and not great flavor. The guy was nice but it just didn’t meet expectations

We ordered three Caprese paninis and one grilled cheese sandwich, all of which were fresh and delicious… I can still taste the pesto sauce in the panini! However, I have two complaints; there is no seating inside the cafe and the food took around twenty minutes to be prepared.

Asked for dark roast, coffee seemed watered down, tasteless. Servers were more interested in talking to themselves. Very disappointed. Had a few sips and threw it away. This is one of the lower rated spots near town center, should have gone elsewhere….and did for the next cup.

They don’t handle food safely – the woman working the counter wore the same gloves taking money as handling food, their staff didn’t understand cross contamination and allergy prevention, kept food in a broken and dirty display cooler. Prices are ludicrous, but that’s to be expected in a seasonal tourist town. Went elsewhere.
