Bitcoin Burger was good! The only reason I’m giving it three stars. Otherwise dining room had a lot of tables that wasn’t wiped down and they wasn’t busy. staff had no customer service skills whatsoever. And everyone seemed confused when you ask a question. They didn’t even know what size drink comes with a meal. I’m assuming they wasn’t well trained. I definitely will come back to Steak and Shake but just not to this location.

Before I complain I want to say the restaurant was very clean.

Tipping when eating out:

Since Covid we have had an unusual behavior in restaurants, the behavior of asking for a tip before service is rendered for take out, and asking for a tip when no waiter/waitress are involved.

Now there are some exception to why we SHOULD tip in take out, it is usually connected to an exceptional delivery of customer service.

However, lately I have witnessed the most audacious requests for a tip (I also think it’s tacky as hell to ask for a tip).

My recent trip to Steak and Shake in Tinley Park, we walked in and BOOM there are NO cashiers nor host/hostess. There is a kiosk to place your order. Although the screen was large and the menu well displayed, it still was not intuitive to use. At the end just before I was ask to make payment, the machine asks for a tip. I received three receipts. No signage for anything out of the ordinary I may need to do to get my food.

I sit down and wait. Eventually I hear someone call my name, I see a person standing at the back counter with a tray. I walk over she pushes the tray towards me and walks away. I walked back and forth about 5 times getting food and condiments. When I tried to get our soft drinks, the drink dispenser did not work. It turns out there is a scanner next to the soft drink dispenser (that looks like a water dispenser itself), two of those receipts are to be scanned for the dispenser to work.

After we finished eating we needed to-go boxes, no staff was around and we had to call for, and wait for, someone to come to the front from the kitchen to give us a box and bag. As I was eating I watched several people walk up to those kiosk to order, and watch them with difficulty making their order, no staff ever showed to assist. One customer gave up and left.

The more I thought about that request for a tip the more questions I had, primarily who the hell was I tipping?

No one took the order.
No one brought us the order.
No one assisted with anything.
No one greeted us coming or going.

…but they had the audacity to ask for a tip at the beginning of our visit.

Ms. Michelle was very nice, helpful and polite. She has awesome customer service skills. She talked to the customers and dispose of their garbage. Just above and beyond. I truly appreciate her. Dione was very nice, kind and polite. He kept the dining room clean and was very attentive. You can tell he takes pride in his job.

If you are ordering drive thru, check your oder before you go anywhere!!
It took them three times to get my order right. And my fries are already staled, and they are willing to offer me fresh one but I will need to wait for another ten minutes. So guess what else is going bad? That’s right, my burgers. So is it worth it? Maybe not.

That was my first time going to Steak N’ Shake in decades but I’ll never be back. The girl taking our order was rude, impatient, unhelpful, she rushed us and still got our order wrong. The food was OK but not worth it.

I ordered (2) tender kids meals. One was hot and fresh the other was clearly redropped. The Manager Eddie refused to give me a refund or a replacement even though i returned witb the entire uneaten meal and the receipt. Store owner Ken Rogers refused to give me a refund or replacement. Therefore, Steak and Shake stole from me. I was not provided with an edible meal. Both managers argued with me. We unprofessional. Ken Rogers took my phone number. To “investigate” then call me back. I never received a call from him. Slow speed of service for redropped food. I was not satisfied with the cleanliness of the restaraunt. Order accuracy at 100%. Quality of food was the poorest ive ever received. I will be contacting corporate and completing the survey. This establishment does not put the customer first and once corporate finally refunds my money ill NEVER spend another dime here. I will never promote or suggest this restaraunt. If youre reading this i wpuld take my business to another steak and shake location. Accidents happen but at this store they dont take accountability. I paid for what i wanted and wasnt asking for anything free. Yet i walked away without an edible meal or my money back. Poor management. Dont give this place your business.

In a world where customer service lacks, be like NICK. He Welcomed every customer that came in the door. Asked me what my order was before I could even punch it into the machine so he could get started on it. About halfway through my meal, he asked if I was enjoying it. It’s amazing the impact one individual can have. 12/10 Best location I’ve been to in memory because of him
