We stumbled across Ronnie’s after a morning at Pedernales Falls. What a great find! Not only was the barbecue to notch, the service was fast and friendly. Their portion sizes were generous and pricing was friendly. I’d definitely go back for more!

Really good barbecue nice ambiance in the restaurant too. Been a long day it was mid-afternoon and I was stopping through Johnson City wanted something quick to grab. A lot of great reviews are accurately descriptive of this place. No frills no nonsense just good barbecue. The staff was very nice I tried a quarter of barbecue chicken along with the sliced beef sandwich and potato salad. The brisket was really thick cut and extra moist one of the best sliced beef sandwiches I’ve had. The chicken had a great smoky flavor nice and juicy meat and not been dried out. The potato salad in my opinion could use a little bit more egg but that’s a personal preference it was really good as well. Will absolutely stop there again

I wanted barbecue on my way out of town and this couldn’t have been a more perfect place! Very friendly and helpful staff. Ordered a 2 meat plate with moist brisket and turkey, along with green beans and cucumbers and tomatoes. Absolutely incredible food!! Delicious brisket, tender and juicy. Beautifully smoked turkey. Would definitely come back here if ever in the area!

The ladies working today were fabulous and very friendly. This restaurant has a lot of potential. We had three meats and two sides. The brisket was just not cooked correctly, almost inedible, but the sausage and Turkey were delicious. The sides were good too. For the price it was well worth it! We were expecting an ice house, which it was not…but the tea was good! A little work and this place could be 5 star!

If I could give it negative reviews I would. The establishment itself does not look very welcoming, dirty and disorganized. I still gave it a chance. Shockingly the ladies were incredibly rude when ordering and were annoyed at the fact that we didn’t comprehend the menu. Got upset because we didn’t order the chicken plate combo correctly or to their understanding.

Some friends and I were just driving through looking for a place to grab lunch and we saw Ronnie’s and it looked locally owned so we decided to stop and eat there. Some of the absolute best brisket I have ever had. We all got a sliced brisket sandwich with pickles and onions and a scoop of potato salad. The 2 guys working fill the room with their personalities. If I loved in johnson city i would absolutely be a regular there!! Highly recommend!

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. The flies eat better than the people. My brisket was as hard as a doorstop. Absolutely not even chewable. The person behind the counter said I needed to learn that “lean brisket is supposed to be dry.” This wasn’t just dry. It was an edible! And I wasn’t kidding about the flies. There were more flies on the countertop and windowsills than I have ever seen in one restaurant in my entire life. The place should probably be shut down, and under this new management, I doubt it lasts more than a year. Don’t waste your time at Ronnie’s barbecue. It’s not what it once was. Move on.

Best bbq I have had since I got to Texas. The pork loin was seasoned and smoked to perfection and very juicy in every bite. I would recommend this to anyone going near Johnson City, Texas.

My Dad and I love to stop at this place when we are around the area. John serves us with wonderful customer service and of course great food. The boudin sausage is our favorite. It’s great! Professional and efficient.
