This week, I’m in Kodiak with some other veterans who served here. Tonight, one of us tried to eat at Rendevous with his teenage daughter who is Asian. The waitress served him a beer and her a soda. Then, she came back and asked them to leave because his daughter was under 21. She said a minor couldn’t be in the restaurant because there was no separation from the bar and dinner seating so he asked to sit outside. She called the owner and then told my friend that his daughter couldn’t sit outside either. She never asked for ID nor asked if my friend was her father. He paid for the drinks and left. Maybe the waitress thought my old friend could still score a date with a beautiful 17yo Asian female? Or maybe the Rendevous just doesn’t like people that are Asian? Can’t really say. We arrived shortly after they left and there was a couple seated at the same table with two young white children. We have both been patrons for 19 years but this was our last visit.

It’s all been said before, so I will just say it’s all true, the Rendezvous is a great place for food and drink. Also, a beer and fish tacos are where it’s at! The burger was also done right, with a good toasted bun and fresh lettuce and tomato. The chowder rules, it’s very unique and enjoyable.

Rendezvous is one of our favorite spots for dinner and drinks, or if we have been out the road all day and need a good hearty meal. Friday night’s are steak nights, where they grill steaks on the back grill and are perfection. They are also kid friendly and accommodate the menu offering grilled cheese and chicken quesadillas. Some favorites of ours are the BLT which is loaded with crispy bacon, fresh lettuce and tomatoes and a side of handcut fries. The clam chowder is made in house and is my favorite chowder on the island. The salmon burger and halibut burger are also a favorite of mine. The Philly cheese steak is loaded with tender pieces of beef,mushrooms,peppers, onions and cheese. The pasta salad is a smoked salmon pasta salad and a side is a great addition to any meal. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Fish tacos, steak tacos, burgers, fish and chips. It’s all local and fresh!!!

Great local food/watering hole. The owner manager is a local treasure! My first time here and I felt like I’ve been there before. Very welcoming and the food is good with large portions. Halibut burger is very tasty. The chowder could use a little more meat and potatoes cut a bit smaller, but that’s my personal choice. The potato salad is above average. Went here 3 times within a 10 day visit. And I’ll be coming back soon! Thanks for your hospitality!

Ate here twice in 1 day! Basically sampled the clam chowder at breakfast and could not stop thinking of how phenomenal it was, so we went back for dinner and got a huge helping of more clam chowder. Kitchen was almost closed when we stopped in but the chef knocked out another amazing meal in short order. Best burgers in town, even says so on the menu. Kid friendly atmosphere through lunch and dinner.

Yum yum and yum! Wow! Willy told us we needed to stop by and the place did not disappoint one bit! Must have is the Halibut Burger and definitely must have the biggest portion of their clam chowder you can handle because if you only have a little, you WILL want more! Best chowder ever!

Regular, decent bar food in what can only truly be described as a dive bar. Hot French fries & cold beer in a dark place. The bartender recommended the halibut sandwich & it was tasty but the burger itself was fairly soft and fell apart is I was eating it. Nonetheless, it had good flavor.

I absolutely hate clam chowder. Most seafood really. For some reason though, I can’t go there and not get the clam chowder. It is incredible. The atmosphere is great, I make a new friend everytime I go there. Seriously, it’s almost weird. Suffice to say, I love this place.

The best clam chowder I have ever had. I wish they would ship it to me in Louisiana. The locals told us about this place. We were in alaska for 10 days and would go everyday if I could. Go and enjoy.
