We dropped by the Pollo Rico Restaurant in Thonotosassa for lunch. The food was good, the service was friendly. I will probably eat there again. The place is a little rundown, but it is a lunch eatery without any bells or whistles. It has a very laid-back atmosphere which is reflected in the staff and building.

I was looking up places to eat and this was the first place that popped up. I noticed that it had 4.4 stars so I decided to give it a try. I ordered over the phone and the man I spoke to was very polite. Once you step foot in the parking lot, you can already smell the food. The aroma brings back memories of mom’s cookings. I walked inside and was greeted by the owner, he was very welcoming and kind. I was given a menu to take with me and the receipt even includes he’s personal cell phone number so you can even order your food through text. I personal think that’s a great way to get returning customers. Anyways, when I tried the food there were no disappointments. You can tell that the food is made with love, it has that homemade feeling. I ordered white rice, black beans with beef and onions. The beef was so tender, it broke off so easily just with a fork. The white and beans were exceptional as well! This restaurant is the definition of a mom and pop shop, the owner genuinely cares about the food that he is putting out. I will be returning and would recommend everyone to try this restaurant as well.

What a great place to eat! Authentic food just like my mother used to cook, it was so delicious. Everyone there was so friendly and willing to sit and chat with us, even let us try some of the items we didn’t know what they were, (also delicious by the way!) I wish I lived closer as I definitely would be a regular customer!!

Friendly proprietors, excellent food & great service. I had the Cuban with pulled pork. Best I ever had. Can’t wait to go back & try to rest of the menu. Breakfast, lunch, light dinner, comfort food.

Wow, food was amazing and the owner is so accommodating to any special request. Super friendly!!! I had the tacos on one visit and the flavor was great. On my second visit I had the Cuban sandwich and it was HUGE and was the best Cuban I have ever had. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

My son and I stopped in to check out the new place in town. He ordered the authentic Cuban sandwich and loved it. I had the PR chicken sandwich pressed – delicious! Huge sandwiches. Owner is friendly. Place is clean. We will return.
