I like the whistle stop because it is in our small town of lake where I grew up. I enjoy supporting small businesses. Usually I have a great experience there but this time wasn’t the case. I decided to pick up food for dinner for myself my husband and my daughter it came out to $38 and some change which seemed fair for this day and age, BUT when I received my food I was a little disappointed my daughter ordered cheese fries and the portion was so small and it was almost five bucks! Not to mention when I first walked in I had to stand at the counter for almost 10 minutes because the young lady who took my order was on her cell phone texting. When she finally noticed me she put her phone down and said “I am so sorry about that”. You should not be on your phone at work especially when customers are present. I love this place but I think the staff need some training on customer service. I am willing to give it another shot of course but I’m hoping our next experience is a little better. But on the plus side the food we did get was pretty good just not the portions. You should please work on your portion sizes. (And this picture makes it look like there’s more than what they’re actually was)

Crew was super friendly and quick with our meals. Wife got COD I got 3 piece chicken meal. Both turned out excellent! Got our ice cream and headed out for our son to run around on the little playground. Nice having a local ice cream stand with good food near by!

We ordered there today… roughly about an hour ago and I will say this, the fries were AMAZING, I could literally eat an entire bucket of them. The onion rings were delicious, and the chicken was full of flavor and very juicy. However, I was anxious for the coleslaw and it was horrible. Me being a huge fan of coleslaw I was anticipating a good slaw being that chicken and coleslaw go hand and hand, it was sour, had very little dressing or was spoiled but it was very disappointing. The roll that came with our dinner was not only hard but it taste like a cardboard box.

We used to love this place but as of late things have changed. We ordered chicken and we were told “ it could be less than15-20 mins or it could be more” from the time I placed the order to the time I received it, it was 1 hour and the chicken was dry. It will be twisted sisters pizza for us next time.

We went for ice cream shortly before closing. The minute we walked up to the window, 3 teenage workers gave dirty looks and said “we have to serve them because it’s not 9 yet. We were cleaning up the machines.” They continued to make comments about our order, and yawning while we were ordering. One of the flurries was clearly not filled like the rest, and they handed it to us and talked about how they knew it wasn’t filled up like the others. We asked for napkins and also got an attitude. Ice cream was good beside the one flurry portion, which they knew the mistake but didn’t offer to fix it. Some customer service coaching or supervision is needed!

Very warm in the building. They have an AC unit that’s not even on it’s 95° in the building. Every table I looked at was dirty it wasn’t washed off the help is wearing things on their neck because it’s so hot. The owner should turn on his AC unit and he might want to watch some of his cooks how things are done

VERY small portions for the price. Ordered a hot dog & ice cream for me & my daughter/granddaughter. The ice cream was too soft so had to have ice cream upside down in a bowl, with cone on top. After we got ice cream, was about to ask about hot dog & window closed when I was about to ask. When she opened the window, she said I hadn’t ordered a hot dog. But also the customer before me had issues with a food order too. And 25 cents for a couple sprinkles. Would not recommend & I like ice cream.

Prices are outrageous I might as well just go to Dollar General and get a gallon of ice cream and make my own ice cream cone half the time they’re out of everything I won’t go there again no need I’ll spend my summer on a pontoon on a lake with my watermelon
