Great espresso cafe… super chill — quick, kind customer service. Great prices (local not tourist prices).

If you’re on the beach and craving a hot drink this is the place to go! It’s about a 5 minute walk from the beach, and even though they were a little busy they were very quick! It’s a smaller coffee shop, but hands down better than the Starbucks down the road!

Really love the ambiance of this cafe. Lots of food and drink options on their menu. Would recommend if you’re looking for a place to eat breakfast or lunch.

Amazing scones. They have mini sizes so you can try different flavors. Scones are not hard. Very soft and good flavor of butter. coffee was okay.

Situated in La Jolla, this business certainly demonstrates resilience. Its food must be commendable to sustain its presence in such a competitive environment. However, a 5-star rating requires more than just decent food. One would hope for patient and informative service when navigating unfamiliar menu items. Regrettably, this wasn’t my experience. While another customer raved about their coffee and received VIP treatment, my experience was starkly different. Their scones, though, deserve a notable mention – a solid 4.5 out of 5, not overly sweet, just the way I prefer. A piece of advice: equitable treatment towards all customers could potentially enhance the return rate. But whether that’s a priority for them remains uncertain.

Not a positive experience, the service here left a lot to be desired. We ordered 3 drinks and did not enjoy any of them. 2 espresso drinks that were far from being enjoyable and a smoothie that tasted pretty good but was not blended very well, there were pockets of milk. They do have amazing meringue cookies. I reccomened getting coffee at one of the amazing places on either side of Brick and Bell Cafe but stopping in for a sweet treat.

From the super fresh and delicious food to the friendly staff, we always love Brick and Bell. Killer cappucinos☕️ and mini scones – especially love the honey maple walnut but they’re all fantastic. The wi-fi is great and they have a cute “secret” back patio if you need a bit of quiet but really we love the cute birds who hang out in front (sparrows, finches, all sorts). On weekdays you’ll get all the local color from wetsuit-clad surf instructors to kayak outfitter crews to chatty students and business types peering intently into Zoom. Our favorite casual breakfast in La Jolla Shores (after 15 yrs).

Check your bill! This is the second time I try this place- first time was in April 2023: they charged me more pretending that the menu was not updated. I had already paid, so I let it go. The food was low quality, nothing special. I came back again in August 2023 with other friends that “really” wanted to try that place. They charged me more again, again pretending that the menu is not updated, and again with a big attitude. So it has been about 5 months and they haven’t updated the menus yet, or they are just charging more those who “look like tourists”….

Two caramel macchiatos – one iced, one hot – both delicious!! The cranberry scone was fantastic too!

We like Brick and Bell and they have a decent selection of coffees and some really good scones. We liked the maple walnut one. We also ordered the lemon poppy cake which was a little mushy, but had a good flavor. There was a really interesting mushroom coffee that one of us tried and thought it was pretty good and not an overpowering mushroom taste like you might think. Overall a good coffee place, but not amazing.
