In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. First time here. It was phenomenal! The waitress and other staff were exceptional. The food was delicious. I’m beyond pleased with my dining experience here. Thanks Black Bear! We will be back! My hubby had the Chicken fried steak with loaded baked potato and green beans. I had the taco salad. I swear it had a lb of ground beef on it. It was HUGE! Plus loved the decor etc.

This place is mediocre at best. DO NOT GET THE RUBEN as suggested in other reviews. Meat was so dry I couldn’t even tear it let alone bite into it and it seemed that the dressing wasn’t even put on the sandwich. The sweet potato fries tasted like they dipped them in oil then cooked them in the microwave and were soggy. The gravy somewhat saved the chicken fried steak but just barely because it was so flavorless. 0/10 recommend, I would’ve rather spent $35 a fast food place.

We came in and my wife ordered the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans with a totilini soup. She never got the soup, one waitress was sweeping the floor while the other one looked lost. Chicken fried steak tastes burnt. Green beans tasted like something that was microwaved. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant in Owasso. We thought it would be better than Tulsa and we were wrong. Paid 39.18 for dinner, big mistake… The waitress only came to our table at the end of our meal. Usually I tip at least 10.00 but this time I just couldn’t do it. I never received my check, I had to walk up the counter, and she never gave me a receipt.

5 of our 6 meals were very good. The sixth was a disaster. Reuben sandwich was dry and overcooked, had only a teaspoon of kraut and served with cold fries. (She should have sent it back but instead asked for a spoonful of sauerkraut.) My small size chicken fried steak was delicious and I liked the small amount of gravy on it. Broccoli and carrots done well. Mashed potatoes lumpy and barely warm. Husband had large size CFS and would have liked more gravy. His salad was generous. The chicken taco salad is ginormous and tasty with salsa and sour cream. Iced tea was good and lemons fresh. The blackberry cobbler was huge and delish. Huckleberry ice cream is good. We had a very attentive server and good service. Ambiance is pleasant and comfortable.

So first off, the waitress was nice.. the restaurant honestly smelled terrible, like a house an old woman lives in with her 50 cats. I thought ya know what.. it’s got a cook style, I’m sure it’s fine. Menus were neat. I noticed there were no appetizers, annoying but okay I’ll manage. Tea was good.. lol the food was absolutely trash. Honestly just really horrible. My husband was so disappointed because my husband and I almost never get to go out together. He was trying to get me to just not eat and take me somewhere else but I didn’t want to waist the money. Ultimately eating there in general was a waste of money. So just save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
