I was so happy to find out this place was open. The atmosphere was beautiful. Our waitress’ name was Rachael. It was our first time there. She was an exceptional server. Very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. All of the food is made to order and tasted extremely fresh. This was obvious when our food arrived. The stuffed quohog was by far the best I have ever tasted. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and that was also amazingly flavorful. We eat out quite a bit. I am a fussy eater and I will be back often. The menu has good choices and they have nightly specials, this includes soup or salad and entree for $17.90. I believe that was the year it was built. That price is super deal for the amount and quality of the food you receive. The portions were good size. After the appetizer and meal, I did not have room for dessert. They did have nice choices. I do highly recommend to this place to anyone.

I loved this place. The dining room space is traditional New England and beautiful. For something different, in the front is a cozy place.. Watchang Tavern which is the original Stanton house. They have a fabulous happy hour Wed – Sun 3-6. The menu is named Tavern Time and includes Stanton Snacks (the fried olives were yummy) and fun cocktails for $7.30. Craft beer is $1 off and house wine $5. You can’t beat this place for ambience, value and delicious food.

Service was excellent. I went with a party of 8 with 8 separate checks. We had cocktails and almost all of us had something different…scallops, stuffed shrimp, pork job with fig glaze, burger, linguine with clam sauce, crab cakes and salad. No one had a complaint. Be careful if you go in a larger party. 18% gratuity added in that none of us knew about. At the last minute someone noticed. Almost gave a 38% tip. Service was good, but not that good.

We went here tonight for dinner. I have to say it was great service and the food was excellent. And you know it’s good restaurant when the chef comes out and asks you how you like your meal. Definitely will be going back again soon.

Almost 5 stars. Food was almost perfect. Weight staff was spot on. prosciutto wrapped shrimp was perfect. Drinks where fair and not too expensive. Filet was ordered medium, came out medium rare and was rare in one thick spot. Still very tasty and so tender you could almost cut with fork. Scallops where a bit fishy tasting, not bad but not good. Lamb Absolutely perfect! Best ever. creme brulee and 3 cream cake was tasty as expected. The above Meal with out tip $150. Very close to 5 stars

This is a quaint, comfortable, restaurant with several seating areas, all in an historic 1700’s tavern. There is a cozy fireplace and the bar is a very nice room. We had a group of 17 and were quite pleased with everything. They serve comfort food with changing specials and some great house favorites. ❤ the beef stew!

The Tavern was very quite and slow during my visit. Way to dark could not see how my meat was cooked. My drink was great, bartender did very well. I got the Tavern steak sandwich. It was tasty except this weird “tomato relish” which was very sweet, which threw off the gorganzola cheese sauces tartness. I tried to scrape it off the second half without much luck. I think it would have been better woth out that sweet tomato relish.

New owners and it was okay. The atmosphere was great as always. The service was a bit slow. The scallops could have been more caramelized. The appetizer of bread with melted gorgonzola was excellent.
