Whataburger

Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties.

It’s a bit crowded, but it’s a Whataburger and it’s right off the freeway easy to get to and easy to get back on the freeway, or on to wherever you need to be in Abilene, so that explains why it’s busy. It’s busy because it’s good. That said, the biggest beef with this location is parking, you have to be careful where you park because you can easily get blocked in by the usually full drive-through lane, but it you plan ahead and watch where you park, you can expect to get the service you expect from Whataburger.

The french fries had way too much salt, but the rest of my food was good. The dining room was really warm at 9 pm

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? The food, as usual, is the draw as Whataburger is an excellent option for those who want a delicious, filling burger. It’s just a shame that it takes 30+ minutes just to get a simple order at the drive-through.

Food was okay. Got a burger and fries. Fries were over cooked and not hot. The burger was warm but not fresh. Had to wait about 15 minutes for the food to come out. Girl handing out the food was rude, and I had to go back up to the counter for ketchup and napkins. Other locations in town do better.

The drive thru is always packed which makes it slower but food is,worth it. Just don’t like the drinks sacked up. I understand concept, just always leak into bag.

Has since improved quite a bit since my last one star review. Burgers have been hot and fresh with melted cheese not half cold centers. Good job!

Went to grab 2 Jr. Whoppers & 2 fries on Sunday 7/30 and went through the drive-thru. They had two lines open so I went to the outside Lane and placed my order and pulled up to pay. After paying the guy gave me my change from a twenty-dollar bill and my receipt and brought me back my icewater the two cars in the lane I was in in front of me got their food and drinks and left and I pulled up and then the car behind me got their food and I’m just waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting….. I finally hollered at the guy when I saw him coming out to go to somebody else’s car and asked him what’s going on with my order I only had a small order and he said he would have to check and when he came back out he said for some reason my order did not relay from outside to the inside so nobody had started making my food even though I had already paid gotten the receipt and been waiting for like 20 minutes! So I asked him if the inside was still open to which he said it should be so I told him I would pull around and come inside and talk to the manager. when I went inside there was about eight young men that worked there chit-chatting at the front checkout stand with what appeared to be a customer but they were all giggling and having fun and I had to interrupt to ask for the manager. When she came up front and I told her what was going on she was ready to just go make my food and I said no I want my food made and I also want a refund because it was wrong for them to have me waiting so long! She didn’t seem thrilled with what I wanted which was a refund and my food considering I sat in my car running my gas for 20 minutes in the Drive-Thru so that would only be fair But ultimately she did go ahead and give it to me. The only reason I am doing this review is because it should not have happened in the first place. I understand the economy is horrible right now and people don’t want to work after covid but make sure the people you do hire or going to do the jobs they are hired for or you will end up not having a company to run at all because you will run off all your customers. We are born and raised Texans and love Whataburger but this was unacceptable!!!!
