The reviews make this place seem phenomenal, but it was only alright. Went with the THC Sando and A Sunny Day drink.

Wazwan was on my list for a while and so glad to have finally made it to this place. Ever since I had heard about their Nihari Momos I wanted to try it out.

Came for the $200 tasting menu. Portion sizes are small, as expexted for a tasting menu. Food came out quick. Service was professional. Coach house is in the back and is cozy. I’d probably want to come back for the a la carte menu. For the most part, individual courses were good but seemed a bit disjoint. Also some were pretty small – one/two bites at most. I left hungry. Fall fara seemed a little out of place. Apple as an amuse bouche was a bit too tiny. Leek confit was a bit watery. Pumpkin momo was a delicious mouthful with the curry. Parippu vada was flavourful and crispy. Chef was great to talk to and shared the story behind the menu and the restaurant.

Tried the Coach House and it was completely different from the casual Wazwan. The Coach House is the fine dining option of the restaurant and it is actually hidden in the courtyard of the building.

‍ Unique fusion flavors bringing together indian and south-east asian cuisines. They do dine and take-out with a comfort food menu that keeps changing. Additionally, there’s a more upscale tasting menu experience that you can buy tickets for via Tock. We walked-in for the casual options and got Nihari Momos, THC Chicken Sando, Inaloban, and Fries. Inaloban stood out as a unique and delectable ‘Pho meets curry’ dish. Spent $55 for a party of 2 and had leftovers. Service was top-notch. This place made a great first impression. We’ll be back to try their tasting menu.

WOW! This was an excellent fresh take on South Asian spices and flavor profiles fused with Western proteins and elements. Not only was every course intentional and delicious, the service was warm, friendly and overall great vibes!

Really wanted to try this restaurant for months now, and after visiting with my friends, I am extremely, extremely, disappointed not with the service, but with the overall taste and quality of the food. In further detail, we ordered the THC Sando and the Nihari Momos. Our total came to $70, (4 THC’s, Nihari Momos and an extra order of fries). We were super excited to try the THC based on the good reviews and the fact that it was South Asian fusion food, but we were super dissatisfied. The burger buns were regular buns which was understandable, the chicken had little to no honey taste to it, and the other toppings seemed to be a warmer version of coleslaw. This had no tandoori taste to it, nor honey, so the burger itself led to this review. The fries, surprisingly, were somehow worse than the burger— it didn’t seem to come to my knowledge how fries good be messed up. I think what had happened was that it was regular fries, but then the flavoring/seasoning was salty and tangy and unlike any other fries that we have had anywhere else. It was a great experience though.

Wazwan’s tasting menu is superb – interesting, exciting, different and excellently executed. The coachhouse in some respects is the opposite of the white-table clothed classic tasting menu venues – the decor is pretty but not polished, the bathroom is basic, staff are running in and out with industrial sized pots etc. But what it lacks in that traditional polish, the coachhouse makes up for in its exquisite food, quaint charm and personality.

They were having a private party and they were only doing take outs but after when we told them that we drove 4 hours to be in Chicago, they let us eat, which we appreciated so much. But more than that the food was so amazing. Everything we ordered from momos, to mushroom Korma and chettinad chicken. Everything so delicious. But I have to go ahead and say it, all the people who are working there were so welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely come back. Thank you for an amazing experience ❤️
