Barbecue definitely worth the detour. It is a former old gas station, and its second life still radiates that vibe. Brisket is outstanding, tender and flavorful. Don’t let the small smoke ring fool you! Sausage portion is small but worth it. Potato salad and macaroni salad are mayo based and lots of cracked pepper. The slaw is a creamy vinegar, only mildly tart. Peach cobbler is definitely canned peaches, but the homemade batter makes up for that. Have I mentioned that your bread slice is homemade too?? Soft and buttery. Our truck and trailer fit in the empty church parking on the Santa Rosa street next door, but there is also a small Pilot across the not-busy highway if you prefer, and lots of standard parking. The single restroom is probably almost identical to its gas station days, except clean and smells perfectly fine.

Don’t let the building fool you, it is great bbq, and going on 10 years for this family owned and operated. Mom, Daughter, and Grandaughter were great and loved chatting with. We sat outside on one of the picnic table. $$

Originally from Minnesota and were in alpine for a triathlon camp. On our way back to Austin, before our flight home, decided to stop at this wonderful place for bbq and it was amazing . We had brisket and pulled pork. Highly recommended!!! Potato salad was super good. The lady that helped us; possible could of been the owner, was so friendly and welcoming.

Like the fire that created the smoke, that cooked and flavored, the food!

Good Texas BBQ. I had pulled pork, wife had the brisket. Both were well smoked and not overly seasoned. We had macaroni salad and potato salad, both looked freshly made. The macaroni salad had pieces of red pepper that really added a good, unique flavor. Price seemed a little high at first but you get a drink and a dessert included, which made it pretty standard price for a one meat plate. Also, there was a lot of meat on both of ours. Definitely more than most BBQ joints. Came with a pickle spear, sliced onions and a slice of homemade bread which was real good and a nice touch. There’s no seating inside, but there’s a couple of picnic tables outside. We are just passing through, but we would come here again the next time.

All the good things people say are true. Really courteous and kind family service. Pork ribs were barky and super tender. I disagree with most peoples criticism of the sides, I liked the heavy seasoning. Cobbler had a great sweet/savory balance. I will reiterate a great tip below: there is nowhere comfortable to eat here, I took it down the road to the chamber of commerce where there are nice shaded picnic tables.

Great brisket plate. Peach cobbler is not sweet, it hits the spot just right! Nice outside seating area, plenty of birds chirping to finish off the small town country atmosphere you’ve been looking for. Definitely a must try for those long Texas drives when you’re tired of fast food along the way.

Really impressive BBQ! The brisket had a delicious flavor and was so tender that it was almost falling apart! The pulled pork was also really good and the sausage was great! The BBQ sauce had a perfect amount of spice to it and complimented the different meats really well!

GREAT BBQ and very nice folks! Generous portions of tender, delicious meats with fantastic potato salad. Found a pecan tree on the way to the clean restroom around back and they gave us permission to gather some pecans to take back home. Will be back next time through!

There were not a lot of options to eat in this area. So we were pleasantly surprised to find this little barbecue spot. They have a mom and pop kind of operation here. They have already cooked the meats and have them sitting pre-sliced in warmers inside the building. They’ve got a cute little set up outside to hang out in a tables. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean and no stinky smell. They have cute little decorations just to make the place welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend it for a stop. We did not have the sausage which looked really good. We had the brisket and the pinto beans and coleslaw and they were all delicious. They went well together because they had pre-sliced the brisket so it was a little bit drier than places that cut it as you order. But combined with the pinto beans and the coleslaw it really worked well.
