Howdy, island adventurers! I recently had the pleasure of stumbling upon the one-of-a-kind Tom’s Burned Down Cafe on Madeline Island, Wisconsin, and let me tell ya, it was a quirky experience like no other. Now, let’s start with the name itself – Tom’s Burned Down Cafe. Yes, you read that right. This place is literally a bar that was once burned down and then creatively rebuilt with salvaged materials, giving it a unique and eccentric charm. The atmosphere is laid-back, with a funky mishmash of decorations that’ll have you scratching your head in wonder. The drinks? Well, they might not be the most sophisticated or refined, but boy, are they strong! It’s the kind of place where you order a simple beer or a classic mixed drink and enjoy it for what it is. The service is as relaxed as the island life, with friendly bartenders who are always up for a chat. Now, this place isn’t for everyone – if you’re looking for a fancy cocktail lounge, look elsewhere. But if you’re up for a quirky, offbeat bar experience that captures the true spirit of Madeline Island, then Tom’s Burned Down Cafe is the spot for you. So embrace the unconventional, grab a drink, and enjoy the peculiar ambiance of this island gem. Cheers to the unexpected! ️

A place you have to see to believe. Basically a seasonal bar in a tent. Very quirky. Bartenders were nice and friendly. Decent drink prices. Only problem we had was with the flies but seeing as it’s an open air tent, there isn’t much that can be done about that. I would have bought a t-shirt for a souvenir, but they didn’t have any XL sizes left….bought some stickers and can koozies instead. Worth stopping just to say you’ve been there, but I wouldn’t make a special trip out to Madeline to see it.

Love Tom’s, it’s the perfect place to hang out on a summer day. I had a Gitch Duluth Cider which was amazing, but I would also recommend a margarita for first timers. Highly recommend, Will visit again

Fun little bar spot on the island. Prices were great, and the service was fantastic. The bartender was 10/10. Very friendly patrons at the bar fun to hangout with. Lots of space to sit down maybe play a board game. Dog friendly. Lovely look/atmosphere too.

I love this place!! I will make a point to stop here for drinks every time I’m on the Island, from now on. Drinks were great, funky atmosphere, and the staff had such great attitude. I could spend hours just looking at all of the cool “stuff” and reading all of the funny signs hanging all over the place. I can’t wait to go back!!
