Great spot to get something to eat and drink after a long walk through the town or a hike up the mountain. Very comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. Also cool: a large selection of merchandise.

It was noon time. Not so much people inside. From the very beginning the waitress was unfriendly and unwelcoming.
Later she tried to add two extra beers to our bill that we did not order. We had to dispute it and wait while the staff reviewed the security cameras to confirm the mistake.
After it was clarified she brought a new bill and THREW it on the table without any apology or explanation.
Mistakes can happen but such attitude left a very negative impression.

Initially, the place made a pleasant impression. It is located right on the bay with a beautiful view.
However, from the very first minutes of speaking with the bartender, I felt a negative attitude toward us, which continued throughout our entire stay.
At the end, they attempted to add an extra beers to our bill. When we pointed out the mistake, the reaction was immediate aggression. From our appearance and accent, it was obvious that we were not locals and it felt like we were treated with prejudice because of that. Literally, I felt myself as a character from a wrong-turn-like movie.
Unfortunately, this behavior completely ruined the overall impression.
I strongly do not recommend this place, especially for contractors and seafarers.

I love Norwegian Rat! The staff were nice. The food was good. The interior was decorated well and felt comfortable and fun. Plus the outside area was beautiful getting to see all the mountains and water! Without doubt I will be back next time I’m in Dutch Harbor! Have a great day! ❤️ ⚓️

It really hard to say why anyone would give this place less than 5 stars. The bartender was very polite and quick. The US Navy arrived and the line was quite long waiting for those sailors but overall it was very good. It is “I have been there” kind of place, it is worth the trip.

The Norwegian Rat what a good time. Out of the few places in town to hang out this is one of the best. The pizza is great and they have a great selection of drinks and beer. They are always playing sports on the TV and the pool tables are great

Cool pub with ocean views and a great patio.
It looks quite dark on the parking lot side but is a cozy pub with plenty of tables and a nice outdoor area with a fire pit.

I frequent the Rat while in port between trips on fishing boats. It’s a great little bar with pool, shuffleboard, corn hole, and a fire pit in the back. Prices are typical for Dutch and the food is not bad for bar food. Amazing sunset and mountain views out back. Fair warning that it can get quite obnoxious when there are lots of boats in town.
