Quaint hotel restaurant but overpriced for the level of quality and service. During our stay we visited the restaurant for dinner and then again got takeout breakfast before hitting the road. For dinner, we got the butternut squash soup, winter beet salad, salmon and shrimp & grits. The portion sizes were generous. We enjoyed the salad as well the shrimp and grits. The soup was over sweetened and the salmon was over cooked. For breakfast we ordered some eggs, pancakes and a few sides. The takeout breakfast took almost twice as long as quoted. We were also disappointed that it was missing a number of the sides we ordered and the avocado was very brown.

Decent spot for lunch. Opted for a spinach salad with grilled chicken, which was good. Several sandwiches on menu, but no gluten-free bread available. Service was a little slow for lunch.

Staying in town at Blowing Rock and drove over for breakfast. Beautiful property and restaurant. Not busy but took forever to get our food and then check, just not good service overall. Portions were large and filling, potato wedges were tasty. However, my omelet was more like an egg scramble and greasy, the biscuit was dry and hard.

We had a 6 :00 reservation granted we were just a few minutes late with 2 kids one 3 and the other 5 months quite a walk to the front door. They had great live music which was outstanding because the hostess told us we would have to wait. It was about a fifteen minute wait even with reservations. Now the food was amazing , and that was why we were there anyway, service was very slow, I guess in the mountains people like have a slower pace but with children every second counts. I was very delighted there were several families eating that night with small children. I did overhear apologies to other tables about the wait and forgetting some of their orders.

A little disappointed. Made a reservation for early dinner last Tuesday. They were out of 3 main options on menu. No Trout, Rabbit or Snapper. How is it possible to be out of mainstay product late afternoon/ early evening? They weren’t busy so can’t blame an excess volume of customers. The DLT was good and the Scallops dish was good, but not hot.

Aside from the setting, this was a disappointment. The food was OK, but the smokey BBQ sauce on my chop sure tasted like Sweet Baby Rays. Many tables around us were having service issues with their meals. A high end mountain restaurant with no IPA’s on the menu? One and out for us, much like our experience at The Beacon and Basils.

We had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant during our stay at the hotel. Although the staff were extremely overwhelmed, they were attentive and accommodating to our needs. The food was not consistent for our party and the diners around us. Several items were overcooked or prepared incorrectly but once re-prepared they were pretty good. I recommend managing expectations and trying some of the more sinple sounding items on the menu for a pleasant dining experience.
