we are visiting from Houston, Texas, exhausted from exploring the Smoky mountains, and we stopped by due to seeing amazing reviews. This place deserves all the good reviews! the lady at the front was super sweet and helpful, and the food tastes amazing and was served hot and fresh! Pricing was extremely affordable as well, and the restaurant feels very warm and inviting! my family and I all wish we could bring this place back with us to Houston!

Always happy, sweet old ladies running the place. Love the chili with the pimento cheese sandwich (grilled). They have a variety of options and it’s really inexpensive. They also have a free meal every seventh meal you have, it’s really adorable. I love going here for the good vibes and the cheap but wholesome food

I needed to eat something simple. We chose to come here for a soup and sandwich. I had the cream of mushroom soup and a chicken salad on Texas Toast. The soup tasted good. There was a strange taste to it but that was what made it delicious (almond milk?). But the sandwich bread was fresh and chicken salad was delicious. The Luzianne Sweet Tea was weak though. I think it was either watered down or the ice water was stale and I know Luzianne Sweet Tea cause it’s the best! The guy who took our order was nice. The only complaint is the price for the soups, sandwich and combos. $22 for 2 soups, 1 sandwich and 1 tea is way too much. We could have went to Shoneys for that price (or slightly more).

If food is truly a category of art, then not every meal we have should be a Michelin star meal; life has many levels to it that should be expressed and experienced. That being said, the Soup Kitchen deserves its own Michelin category for “most like the time you’ve spend with your grandparents.” And it’s lovely. The restaurant feels homemade, which sets you up for the soup and grilled cheese. The soups are scratch and you can tell in little ways. Actual sausage in the gumbo. A snow crab cream soup I’ve never even heard of that only a family member who loves their craft could make for a season. Simple comforts that don’t feel like they’re trying to pander to you and feels void of corporate flair. The staff could be your grandparents or cousins. If you constantly want high class, that’s fine… but you’ve probably been away from family for a while and I would advise you call your momma to say hi and then stop in to The Soup Kitchen.

The employee was not very pleasant. She did her job, but it was like talking to a machine. You can only order the soups of the day that are displayed. You cannot order a basic soup like chicken noodle if it is not on the board. The background music is not the best and the atmosphere is on the cold side. The soup I got that day was a 7/10.

Friendly servers, very tasty soup! I had a half turkey sandwich and a bowl of chicken and wild rice soup, and it was delicious! They have a good variety to choose from, can’t wait to come back.

Small shop with awesome choices! The tomato basil soup and chicken noodle were great! My mom had the loaded potato and a pimento cheese sandwich and said both were good as well. Prices were awesome. Quick, cheap, and easy!

If you are thinking about going here, GO!! My husband’s and I stumbled across this place yesterday while in Knoxville. It was cold and we wanted soup. Googled places to get soup and headed there! I got the hearty vegetable soup, my husband got the chili. When I say that’s the best soup I’ve ever eaten! I had to get a bowl to go. And the cornbread is good as well. My husband loved the chili. We both got to go bowls. The staff are very friendly. It was almost like soup at Grandma’s!! We will definitely stop back in again..
