Amazing food, excellent service and nice ambiance. On top of that, reasonably priced. Great experience!

Tried this place based on reviews seen. I give this place 4 stars. The negatives for me were waiting a long time for dinner after the appetizers, but it is also a small place as was quite busy at the time of our seating. Second negative, both dinners were not hot just warm. The dinners we tried were the Kodiak scallops and the halibut. The appetizer was halibut cheeks which were amazing, and were served hot. We tried tiramisu and carrot cake and both were great!! Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Definitely a place to try if you have not been here.

One of the staff at this fine dining restaurant blurted out “This is the best restaurant in Anchorage.” Normally, this would be a turnoff for me except for the fact that it may very well be true. The server asked whether we were enjoying the tastes of the food that we ordered…perfect question. Each item was over the top wonderful and super tasty. It’s not inexpensive, but the cost was well worth the experience. This place would hold up in ANY city in the US.

This is our go to special place in Anchorage. It’s a small historical house and is a very intimate setting. Yes, the tables are fairly close together/the entire restaurant is in like 3 small rooms.

Hannah made the most amazing tableside Caesar salad that I’ve ever had in my entire life! Marx Bros Cafe ruined me, I will never be able to have a generic Cesar salad ever again. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the venison was perfect at medium rare, and the duck was great as well. Our wine glasses never got empty and the staff was so attentive. We can’t wait to go back!

An amazing restaurant in downtown Anchorage! With only 14 tables situated in an historic house you must have a reservation. We were fortunate to get an 8:45 reservation for our only night in Anchorage. Co-owner Van Hale met us at the door and showed us to our table. We ordered a couple glasses of wine from their extensive list, Van’s famous Caesar Salad, Macadamia Crusted Halibut for my husband, and Filet Mignon for me. Shortly after ordering, Van Hale placed a cart beside our table and proceeded to make our Caesar Salad. I balked a bit at the anchovies but chef assured me I wouldn’t taste them in the dressing. He was, of course, correct. He also presented two glasses of a white wine which he insisted would bring out the flavors in the salad – bite of salad, sip of wine. Again, spot on. When I inquired about the type of wine he replied Gewurztraminer which happens to be one of our favorites. The entrees were perfectly prepared and wonderfully flavorful. My husband said his halibut was the best he had tasted. My steak was awesome! For dessert we split a Crème Brûlée and capped it off with 2 glasses of Graham’s 40 year port. Wow! You have to go here!!

Caesar salad was good but the darker end of the romaine lettuce was a bit bitter. Halibut and salmon entrees awesome (shared those); bread and butter fabulous as were veggies but carrot cake a bit dry. I am a fan of moist carrot cake which doesn’t require more frosting than provided here but it seemed a bit aged.

My inlaws were ecstatic with this meal. For four people, we shared 6 appetizers, 1 salad, 1 entree, and 2 desserts. It was a lot, but very satisfying. The consensus favorites were halibut cheeks and gnocchi. I also loved the lobster/halibut/salmon spread, and oysters. The only appetizer I would recommend skipping is the eggplant spread. The mango and raspberry sorbets brought about groans of pleasure. Service was very good.
