Ten-Ichi Restaurant & Sushi Bar left me with mixed impressions. The food, including Tempura Udon and Chicken & Tempura Combination Dinners, was decent, but the extended wait time of an hour for our food to arrive at our table was quite puzzling. With only one chef visible at the sushi bar, it raised questions about the restaurant’s staffing situation. The lack of efficiency in the kitchen was evident and contributed to a less than satisfactory dining experience. The server’s inattentiveness further dampened the experience. While the flavors were alright, the overall service and wait time make me hesitant to return.

We came on a Sunday night. Once we sat down, we waited 15 minutes for miso soups… then didn’t see our food for another 45 mins (the tables who arrived after us was even served first). The rolls weren’t very good and poorly executed – Most fell apart in our chop sticks.

I’ve dined here many times because I live in the neighborhood. I so want to love this place because of the history and proximity, but the food quality is just not good and it’s gotten worse each time. I’m Japanese and when I’m too lazy to go far or cook myself, I come here to seek comfort. Fish is not fresh. One time there was plastic wrap in my sushi. Today the udon was horrible, the outside mushy and falling apart while the inside was undercooked and chalky. The broth was palatable because it’s probably a solid factory made concentrate. Tempura batter was overworked and chewy. It just seems like staff in the kitchen just don’t care and have no clue what good Japanese food is supposed to taste like. The servers are kind and hard-working, but because they are understaffed, presumably due to decreased business, the service is slow and patchy. Fingers crossed that this place gets the right help it needs to update its menu and improve processes to get it right.

Our food was good but in a city with so much sushi, it did not stand out. The service was also okay, but our waiter wasn’t the most attentive. They did help celebrate my gf birthday by bringing a plate with sorbet and some strawberry’s which was nice, overall a good but not fantastic dining experience.
