I don’t get the 5 stars, they must’ve grown up on Chef Boyardee. The Pros: Generous portions, Bruschetta and the Salad were very tasty and delicious. Service was great and friendly, wine was decent. Ambience good as well, you could see the chefs making the pasta. Zepole donuts and chocolate were good.

The overall experience at Tavolata was mediocre. The first impression was not great as the inside of the restaurant was very dark and cold, which made me shiver. This may have been due to the restaurant setting the temperature low for the staff, but it had a negative impact on the diners. The cold temperature also made the pastas lose heat quickly and be less enjoyable. The food was not impressive either, with the Nero pasta being overly salty and the other two pastas, Ragu and Rigatoni, being just average. The cost for three pastas was steep at around $75 before tip. With the negative experience of the cold ambiance and mediocre food, it’s unlikely that I would return unless improvements are made. Three stars.

Waitstaff were excellent. The food was good with choices I’ve not seen in other restaurants. The pasta with anchovies was a bit overly anchovy tasting for me but if you love a strong anchovy flavor, then perhaps you would like it. The chicken was very tender with a good flavor. The salad was excellent.

Came for restaurant week with friends and had an excellent experience. Service was great from the start. We chose from the restaurant week menu and all loved our choices including the wine. Personally love the steak I had. The music was kind of loud when we first got there, but once the restaurant filled up we didn’t even notice any longer. Highly recommend!

Sluggish service: our waitress would disappear for 10+ minutes at a time, no obvious reason. Portions are huge, food is competent if spicy. Very limited wine list. They were pounding Heavy Metal rock music at 80 decibels when we arrived. Grudgingly lowered it to 77 decibels after three requests. Much better choices for dinner.

Hip, vibrant and moody Italian restaurant, full of energy and dark lighting. Cool space, utilising the elongated building well, with beautiful long central table, normal seating on one side and booth seating on the other. Some bar style seating upfront too. Open fiery kitchen at the back, and an upper mezzanine up a short flight of stairs. Sat at the bar and just caught happy hour (5-6pm), with full menu items slightly cheaper. Had the smoked fish bruschetta, which was great, and the meatball spaghetti, which was a generous size with good sauce, but wasn’t the biggest of fans of the thick glutinous spaghetti.
