5 years ago I gave them 4 stars. Today, I’m taking them back and put 1 because that’s the minimum I can put, but in reality I should’ve put -5. This review is not for the employees, it is for the owners: You need to thank your employees for showing up for work! There were only 2 people working: the cook and the cashier. This is the reason why the quality of the food is awful!

This location has terrible customer service. The guy who is in charge of taking orders left me waiting at the drive thru for more than 25 minutes without taking my order. I pulled up to the window just to have him walk away and never come back. This place needs to do better.

Unfriendly customer service over the phone as well as at the drive-thru. My tacos were cold, they did not include salsa, limes, salt packets, half potato was very dry and cold. Ranchero Beans we’re lacking flavor and on the cold side as well. Very disappointed, not the delicious hot food and good customer service I remember from time ago. If you can’t give good service and condiments that go with the order, you should lock the door and close until you are stocked up and prepared to serve hot fresh food and decent service. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant located on N. 23rd St. in McAllen.

Waited 1 hour to get food. People who ordered after us got food before me and the couples in front of me. Food order was wrong. You spend $40 in a restaurant you expect to get good service and your food order to be right. Not here!!!!!

I did enjoy the food but when my boyfriend picked up his taco, he saw a white thing and on mine tacos, I also had a white thing. I don’t know if that was mold or something else, but we were able to tear that white stuff out. Hopefully y’all in the kitchen make sure to check the tortillas.

Worst experience I have ever had 35 mins in the drive thru the restaurant was empty and there was only one car in front of me and they took off because they never gave them their order I called while I waited in the drive thru and the manager said it’s because he was really busy but there were no people inside the restaurant and it was just me and the truck and the truck left!!!! All I could see was the manager and the cashier laughing

The flavor of these tacos is very mediocre, the trompo tacos tasted nothing like actual trompo meat, the bistec meat was very dry and so was the mollejas, overall poor flavor and small portions.

I ordered through a delivery app, the tacos were good but the cilantro, onions and lemons were rotten. The little bags smelled terrible. Completely ruined the experience! (Can’t eat tacos without the fixings!)

The food here is very poor quality. The preparation it takes versus the wait time is dreadful. Usually after waiting 25 minutes I’d expect a better prepared meal. This franchise is the neglected once grey model that most Valley business owners suffer as a result of poor ownership and management. I don’t recommend any of my people to eat at taqueria El zarape ever again. This is even more evidence that a name will not sell itself any longer in my community. Shame on you El zarape for even putting this dreadful food out to customers. You guys will be better off just closing up shop. The evidence will show in my pictures that your food deserves a one out of five star. Goodbye forever.
