When my family and I went to Tanakas, the atmosphere was a bit dark. I looked at the reviews to see what people said about the restaurant in what tasted good. The takoyaki (octopus balls) wasn’t what we expected it was soupy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, very bland, with no taste. Very disappointing. We all ordered soup, and the noodles were flat like chow fun mixed with udon, and except for the Tanaka classic, which I and my bf had, it was like saimin from the grocery store refrigerator section.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. So glad we came here on our last night of vacation. Not gonna lie, we got a bit lost in that shopping center and it was getting late . Atmosphere was super chill…your typical ramen joint but the food is far from typical. I opted for the tonkotsu ramen with level one spice level and It was amazing. We also tried the tanaka rich garlic Nd that was fantastic as well. Fried chicken and gyoza as appetizers…love. Dont hesitate to try this place out…you’ll thank me for it.

My family I enjoyed a lovely meal of comfort foods for dinner. We found the service to be quick and food well seasoned. The staff were service oriented and attentive to our needs even bringing a new fork after my son dropped his. We will definitely return for many meals to come

I visited Tanaka Ramen Restaurant during my trip to Hawaii for a quick lunch option. It’s located on the mall premises on the outside curb on the second level. The service was very quick and efficient, which I appreciated as I was already so hungry.

I was excited to try this place given its rating and the fact it has to compete with some other fantastic ramen shops in the area. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I left disappointed. I tried the garlic tonkatsu ramen and all I could think was, “Meh.” It tasted flat and just boring. It has a strong garlic flavor, which I love, but it seemed almost like garlic flavoring and not the fresh stuff. The broth was sort of thin, it wasn’t really bold and fatty like I would expect from tonkatsu broth. I also tried a pork bun, and it mostly tasted like mayo and lettuce. My first thought was that it tasted like a McDonald’s burger. Overall, I probably won’t be back given the high quality options nearby.

Delicious authentic ramen and their takoyaki was great as well. Their pork bun was okay. For a Sunday it wasn’t too crowded and we didn’t have to wait long. Fast and friendly service.

I think I got a bad experience at this place. I love the Ramen and the Gyoza, it was perfect. But the customer service, was horrible. The lady that works there is some weird conversations and does not pay attention. And she stares at you while you’re eating. She completely forgot that we ordered food, maybe she was stoned. I definitely would recommend this place to eat, just expect a weird environment.
