Vegan trini food. I was in the mood for jerk chicken but that place didn’t open up so we came down the street to here. I called to check that they were open. For 13 bucks, I got jerk chicken (not spicy) and two sides. The server said that callaloo is like spinach. It’s stewed collards. The food is plentiful and good. The AC was broken when we got in. We were given a free portion of pholari (Pollari?) which is fried dough balls with a Indian style spicy pickle. It was yummy. The counter of prepared food had many vegan options. While we ordered, a man picked up trays of food for a catered event. The man who served us had a particular casual style that some might find too personal. He then served us one at a time.

My wife and I were in Washington, D.C., on business. I was looking for a Caribbean restaurant so I could surprise her. I found Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant on Yelp, and it came highly recommended. I hired a lift and didn’t tell her where we were going. When we arrived at the restaurant, she was so surprised. Just seeing the smile on her face melted my heart. We ordered two chicken rotis, two aloo pies, and a slice of black cake. We spent $59.19 and were eager to return to our hotel to taste the food.

I visited this establishment over the weekend at the Baltimore vegan food festival. After reading so many great reviews I was beyond excited to try it. Unfortunately, that excitement died very quickly.

This local family owned restaurant has Delicious & Fresh Caribbean Food and Excellent customer service. They have a variety of Vegan and traditional options with great portion sizes too. Definitely recommend checking out this Local DC Black Owned Business! I had a very tasty beef patty for a great price and friendly staff.

I was so excited to find a Trini restaurant, where I could share the culture with my family. I’m so glad I chose this place. I ordered a little bit of everything and it was well worth every penny! The portions were huge, the flavor was there, and everyone was so nice. The fresh juices were also delicious. My only recommendation is to not use Seamless…there’s nothing seamless about their process (they cancel orders)! I will be back, trust!

I love this place. Excellent food. I feel like I am in the West Indies when I go here. The women cooking the food know what they are doing. This place is incredible. And worth every dollar you spend there and more.

The food was very disappointing and tasteless. I was so excited to try some good food, but the jerk wings were very dry and the rice and peas were dry too and the flavor was not that flavorful. Just my honest opinion, i am not one to talk negative unless i don’t care for something. But , i was definitely not satisfied with the Qualtiy of Food . They filled the plate with a lot of food but the taste was not tasteful.

Sunrise is amazing. I recently had them cater my wedding (which I hosted at home for a small group of family and friends) and it was such a success and far exceeded expectations. My partner and I were already fans for Sunrise but they really outdid themselves for our event. We ordered jerk chicken, rice and peas, potato and chickpea curry, plantains, vegan jerk (the surprise star of the event), macaroni pie, and sorrel. Everyone was asking where we got the food and my father who was raised in Jamaica won’t stop asking for me to bring him more of their jerk! I also can’t wait to go back. I had a little bit of trouble getting in touch with them initially to make the order but once I did they were incredibly helpful in terms of planning the meal and quantities needed for my guests, how I should serve it, and pick up was very easy too. I can’t recommend them enough, both as a place to get good Caribbean food but also as a personable business.

Looking for Jamaican Caribbean cuisine for myself and my wife we found Sunrise. There was a Lady to greet customers to make us aware the the a/c is broken and they are closing early (at 7:15PM)7/3/23 and that they may have food left over depending what I want. After paying $60.00 worth of food I need to let you all know what we received. We ordered two curry chicken meals both with rice and beans one with cabbage, the other with plantains. One chicken patty, which was hard like crackers and the little pieces of chicken like(dry jerky), hard to eat. The plantains looked like dried out dates, tasted old, not eatable. The beef patty was a bit moist, that was eatable (eaten do to hunger). The chicken curry Roti had no flavor good size potatoes, it is missing spices. The curry chicken was watered down with not so much curry or spices. The rice was not cooked correctly, it was crunchy hard, smelled old, foul (like meldew), the beans were dried out, crunchy hard to eat. The coco bread old and smelled like meldew. This was my first and last time going there, I felt this place was a waste of money spent because we had to trash everything! A huge disappointment. Extremely upset thinking we were going to have an authentic dinner. Save your money! Do not go there!
