Always love making a trip to Summer Kitchen and found out they opened a second location off 123rd and Pacific. However, they do not provide any service while you are there. You go to the counter and place your order, you get your own drinks and even your own to go containers. The food was okay bit the Summer Kitchen off Giles has so much more flavoring that we will go back to that location again but the location was small and was just not wowed like we normally are when dining at Summer Kitchen.

The food was good. But it is not a traditional restaurant. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food. This was the first time my family went there. You apparently help yourself to silverware an a condiments from the cart. We weren’t sure about drinks so we just helped ourselves to water. Just is very confusing if it is your first time going there I guess.

Nice small café for breakfast, when walking in you order from counter with a Huge menu hanging up(later we found real menus). You find your own table, self serve drinks, silverware, condiments & coffee is good. We ordered the Country Benedict & Prince Charles omelet. Food was very quick and delicious. No gluten-free bread options but fresh fruit was an excellent alternative! Was kinda nice to be self serving on drinks so we didn’t have to wait for anyone to get water or coffee and could go quickly. A fantastic place to try, looks like lunch/dinner options were plenty and prices were great! Staff was very friendly.

We usually get our pecan and cinnamon rolls from Wheatfields Bakery and they are amazing. However, my husband is very partial to Summer Kitchen’s coconut cream pie. So I told him to pick up 2 cinnamon rolls and 2 pecan rolls. What a mistake. They were dry, very little of the gooey goodness that is supposed to be on the pecan rolls and what little bit of frosting that was on the cinnamon rolls had a weird taste. 4 rolls $20.00 of icky.

My personal favorite breakfast in Omaha, soft pancakes, thick bacon, sweet people, decent prices, and noticeably great eggs. Not sure how I can tell if they are Summer Kitchen eggs but I can. Go there for breakfast and then take a walk around the bridge on the Tri-Faith Commons!

Please build one in Council Bluffs, I love your Monterey chicken melt, potato, creamy chicken noodle, creamy chicken rice soups, rasberry muffins. More things but you’re so far away I hate to waste a time I always get the same. I know my friends would come at least once a week. Also my son bought us a breakfast casserole we put together and baked, when I’d had surgery. Ham,, potatoes, and egg hollandaise sauce ( it was WONDERFUL)and chicken salad, croissants, muffins. It’d be great for company to cater.

Excellent Santa Fe omelette, out of season fruit that was hard and tasteless… Too early to down whether they honored my request for gluten free precautions. The person who took the order looked thoroughly disinterested. The waiter was personable. It feels like they can’t decide whether this should be like Panera where you help yourself to water and take-home containers or if they want to be like the old Summer Kitchen Cafes where the price you paid was worth it because of the tremendous customer service, attractive and well-designed layout rather than a hodgepodge of historical photos in matching frames that cover the entire wall. As I said, however, the omelette was superb and may invite a return visit providing I don’t have a totally avoidable allergic reaction.
