I have eaten at Steve’s Prince of steaks over the years, both at the Mayfair location and the Center City location. Not sure if those two locations are even there anymore. However, my daughter wanted a cheesesteak, so I said, how about we drive Steve’s on the boulevard so we did. Inside itself was very clean, and the gentleman taking our order was very pleasant. However as soon as I saw the ATM I knew it was a cash only place. I wasn’t happy about that but it is what it is. I ordered a pizza steak with fried onions and my daughter got a cheesesteak with wiz. The meat itself appeared to be of better quality than some steak places, and cooked flat instead of how a lot of places cook it chopped up in smaller pieces. It had a nice flavor and the meat was tender. The fried onions paired nicely with the meat. Overall the steak was good. However, I feel the meat could have been seasoned a little with at least a little salt and pepper, and it could of had slightly more cheese and sauce on it. The price was also a little steep for the size of the sandwich but I will assume it’s because it is potentially a better cut of meat. Bottom line is, it was good and I would eat here again, but it wasn’t in my Top Ten of local cheesesteaks. On the wall there was mention of “Best of” awards for Steve’s but they were years old…one date that stuck in my head was ‘92. You make good steaks for sure. But if you want to make great steaks…you might want to visit some local competitors to see where you fall short.

Not bad, not great, good if you’re in the area I’d say. They got our order wrong (fixed it somewhat, but still got it wrong which is hard when it wasn’t busy and it’s taken in person). The flavor and the roll is good, but for the price, I believe mine was close to $17 I’d honestly rather get a Wawa steak.

Steve’s is known for good steaks. I’ve eaten there for years. Never have I complained but today I spent $40 to not get what I ordered. I ordered prov and onions on one and American “with” on the other. Got two whiz sandwiches with no onions. The cashier was yelling and distracted. Usually I wouldn’t care but I got all the way home to have to choke down an expensive whiz steak. Disappointing. Oh and my shrimp roll had no shrimp but my fault for expecting that.

I didn’t know Steve’s only serves steaks at night They slim their menu at night no signs and doesn’t say it anywhere. I drove all the way up here to be told steaks only. Sounds like false advertising to me.

On the recommendation of a few locals, I decided to get myself a genuine Philly cheese steak. I was not disappointed. In fact, I’ve intentionally avoided eating a cheese steak in my home state because I know it’s not going to be the real thing. This sandwich was definitely worth the wait! I highly recommend Steve’s!

I flew into Philly and wanted to give cheesesteaks a go and this definitely opened my eyes to a whole new world. Cheesesteaks are awesome! The bread was sooo soft and the combination of steak, onions, and the american cheese was to die for. 1000% recommend stopping by here
