Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

Chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offering a dinerlike space with retro flair.

Social distancing was in place. They were using every other table and the restaurant was very clean.

It was very busy and the workers efficiently handled the crowd. The workers should stop wearing the masks because no one wore it accordingly anyways. Every table was full and not cleaned between each family. Perhaps 1 worker should work the floor to greet and clean. The burgers were not hot when I finally got it. It was okay.

Yesterday was the first time I dined inside Steak N Shake in well over a year. The set up is very different than it was before. You, now order and pay at the front counter. They call your name when your order is ready. There are no waitstaff. All condiments, napkins, etc. Are at the front in individual packets, instead of in containers on the tables. If you have a gift card or rewards on their app, you should open it before stepping inside. I had trouble with opening apps or doing anything on my phone inside.

We got there at 11pm right after the night Bristol race I attached a copy of our receipt so you can see when she brought us the check. They had already closed half the restaurant and were only letting us be seated on on side. The chairs we used to block people off. I took a picture where they seated 6 people at a 4 top. The booth we set in the seats were tore. I eat at our local Prattville, AL store all the time and the mushroom and Swiss has strings of onions and mushrooms. This had disgusting chunks of onions and one mushroom…did I say one mushroom! Customers were coming in as we were leaving a group of 8 or 9 and they told them they would have to split up because half the restaurant was closed. I have worked in food service, I know it is aggravating when you have a busy time of the year…but as terrible as the food is they should be thankful and not trying to turn people away!

My wife and I went here assuming the worst based on the ratings. But this place was amazing. We went in were seated immediately I guess we got there before the rush. The place was a little small but not bad. Anna was our waitress and she was amazing and very polite. We ordered burgers of course. They were a little small but for 4$ for a burger and fries it was way larger than expected for that price. Our total bill was 13.12. We paid with our phone so we got a 2.99 discount. Which brought our bill to 10.13. How could anyone beat that price

This little 80s style diner was Very busy but it was Saturday dinner so it was expected the food for good but the price was better.. most meals (that don’t include a drink) were 4$ and kids menu under $3. Service was a little slower then what I would have expected. I would recommend if you have the extra time.

Food was delicious and affordable! We don’t have a Steak ‘n Shake in our area anymore so it was nice to come by one on our travels. Service was a little be desired, but we enjoyed our meal.

Way better then alternative options (arches or king) and at a better price. No complaints about anything, everyone (despite being busy) was helpful and friendly.

I occasionally bring my granddaughter here during Happy Hour for the half price shakes. Today I am informed at the pickup window that the owner has decided not to participate in Happy Hour. There was a sign in the window that apologized for the “inconvenience”. Inconvenient?! Post your sign on the drive thru menu! Anything less is fraud. But at least they courteously included a Happy Hour flyer when they passed my full price shakes out the window.
