Lemon drop martinis was made almost to perfection with fresh lemon. Food was good. Got fried chicken. Food portion is huge so go hungry. Our waitress was super nice and fast. I’ll recommend this place if you want southern Cuisine.

This was my first time in Des Moines and was on business. We took our customers to Bubba for a meal and was very pleased. Ashley was our waitress and did an outstanding job. She was very tentative and friendly. Everyone’s food came out just right! Hats off to the chief and staff. The deviled eggs were by far the best I’ve ever had and being from NC that’s saying a lot. They had a very nice wine list and cocktails were very tasty. If back in town I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for helping us show our customers such a great night.

Well, this place was a very pleasant surprise. To get good Shrimp and grits in downtown Des. Moines was a surprise indeed. So I had a old-fashioned like drink variation from the very capable bartenders. Great selection of cocktails and beers on tap. The shrimp and grits was very good. And I was so hungry tonight that the deviled eggs with candied Bacon had to be in my belly when I got back to the room. And this was a very cool old building with modern flair and a great ambience. Great job guys!

Just finished dinner at Bubba and WOW…The atmosphere was beautiful. Carly served us and was very helpful and friendly. She was always there to help. Ordered the fried chicken, crab cake salad and grits and shrimp. The fried chicken is the BEST I’ve ever had in my life. You need to try it. Compliments to the chef! The cocktails were also amazing! Thank you BUBBA for an excellent experience. If we’re ever in Iowa again we will definitely return.

This was a pleasant dining establishment with excellent service. I would recommend that you bring a healthy appetite and try the crawfish pimento mac and cheese, biscuit basket, loaded potato skins, fried chicken, and chicken fried steak. The juleps were also a hit with our group. We did not enjoy the catfish skillet, cherry- rhubarb pie, or jambalaya. I’m a southern girl who has been to Louisiana on many occasions, and I’ve NEVER heard of red beans in jambalaya. After having it a Bubba, I wish I had never heard of it. Nice try, but that particular dish is an epic fail ❌️.

Such a beautiful place! Service was great as was the food. I felt it was a little pricey but these days, everything is. The Kentucky Hot Brown was very good, I can’t believe I’m saying this but I think it might have had a bit too much cheese and I would’ve cut the bacon up into smaller, more manageable size pieces; maybe just one whole piece on top for the visual and the rest half pieces? I know, I’m just being picky. Husband’s meatloaf was great and our friend’s chicken fried steak was huge! Really enjoyed it.

Bubba is a must restaurant in Downtown Des Moines! The food and the service are both wonderful. The menu has many exquisite options to choose from, including vegetarian and vegan choices. Their drinks are also very delicious. I always leave wanting to come back soon! 100% recommend.

Kids meal was great for my kid and priced decently well, comes with a drink and side. My food looked great, was decent but I was not impressed for the price. I should have tried the regular chicken or the catfish. The waiter was very nice and the place itself is in a convenient location and is very appealing inside. Also be careful of the not using cash upcharge. Wasn’t expecting that.

Quiet part of Des Moines. Great food. Beautiful spot. I got the chicken and waffles and my lady got the hot brown. Both great and one of the least expensive places we have eaten lunch in the past few months.
