Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

Absolutely turned around by new ownership / management! My father-in-law and husband decided we would go to Steak ‘n Shake. I was hesitant because of previous experiences. However, with this new ownership in place, I can attest to an amazing experience. Great service, tasty burgers and fries. My father-in-law enjoyed a delicious Strawberry milkshake. Prices are fantastic and the ordering system and self serve fountain drinks are wonderful. If you have not visited in a while, go and give it a try. Photos take during two different visits just before it got busy. The drive through was quite busy. If there is any issue, the floor does seem very slippery once you get inside. Be careful!

Pretty much self service now, which I don’t mind but it’s the reason I gave 3* on the “service”. They have kiosk in the front so no table/ counter service. Probably one of the best burgers I’ve had relative to the price in awhile. Fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and amazing pickles. Friendly staff and clean dining room. This place exceeded my expectations for a fast food restaurant.

Stopped in to have lunch with my husband and son. It was delicious. The place has really changed. We haven’t been to Steak ‘n Shake in over 2 years. It is so much cleaner and the food taste a whole lot better.

I hadn’t been to a Steak and Shake in years so I was surprised that the cashier/ordering area was gone and replaced with kiosks that you order on. The food didn’t take very long and was hot. All of the food was good. I wish they would have had the cute craft stuff they used to have for the kids. Overall we had a good visit.

40 minutes for wrong food that was cold after 3 tries at the drive thru. Had to look really hard for the second small burger. They need smaller rolls because the hamburgers are not anywhere near in size. Also need smaller containers for fries and rings since they look half full. Be sure and double check your order before leaving parking lot or you’ll pay for things you might not have gotten. They got a second star because we’d been driving for hours and they had food available after 11 pm that was close by.

Delicious but took a long time to get my milkshake. I had just about finished eating by the time the shake was brought out. The staff was very friendly and polite.

I normally do not do reviews, especially if they are negative. But this is the third time we have had to wait over 45 minutes for food at this location. I wouldn’t mind it so much if our fries weren’t cold when we got them or if they waited to give us our shakes so they aren’t melted by the time we get our food. Last time, we were told to pull up when no one else was in the drive thru. We waited thirty minutes and decided to go inside only to find that they had lost our order. So we were sitting for no reason outside their view. This time, we waited 45 minutes for them to tell us it would be another 20 minutes. The people next to us had waited an hour and we all left empty handed. Someone please help this crew. I love Steak n Shake and would love to see it thrive again.

This was the most terrible food I’ve ever seen.. the food was so greasy. The mayonaise was literally only in the middle of the bread. The food was cold. The cheese they put on the fries was sprinkled last minute. The fries were cold so the cheese didnt melt and it was cold. Fresh out the walk in. The grease was pouring off the burgers. Not to mention the employees were so rude.

New management must be falling down. Tables hadn’t been bused for a good while, Floor was sticky with napkins everywhere. This new model of kiosks has removed all levels of service here. Food is still ok, but it’s now on par with other fast food giants. However, staff did deliver food to the table, which was surprising

Phone number disconnected. Store “closed.” App open? Dirty inside. Ordered through app, which it allowed. Arrived to lights on, but doors locked and no one answering drive-thru or at it’s window. Finally a female and male employee emerge from somewhere inside and said they are closed (2pm) to me and others standing outside. And that they cannot take orders because they are short staffed. But when I asked how to get a refund, surprise my food was ready in a minute? Idk who the owner is, or if it is a corporate policy, to have more than two employees inorder to stay open? But regardless, it takes 2 employees to run a basic restaurant…one 1 to take orders/assist cook when not ordering and 1 to cook. But if that’s not possible, contact corporate so they can disabled your app ordering and get a working phone number also.
