With the high score for reviews (4.9), we had very high expectations and they were surpassed. From the baked goods and drinks to the BBQ meats and sides, everything was delicious and the portions were very generous. Everything was so good we got seconds of many items. Definitely would go back again! Some items of note included the croissants, peach almond tart and lemon tart, bread pudding, coleslaw (so different and delicious), smoked beets (amazing!), and every smoked meat (brisket, pulled pork, and chicken).

Not at all impressed. Portions were tiny, meat was dry. Bun was underwhelming…but it made up most of the sandwich…ok..I understand that it’s a homespun mom and pop business. Eating in a side yard on a rickety plastic picnic table is not my idea of a nice experience. $25.00 for literally 4 slices of brisket and a beverage. Actually, the beverage was a highpoint… hibiscus and rose tea… delicious…got two croissants to go.. waiting to try for breakfast tomorrow morning. All in all..will not visit again.

I was unprepared to have the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had at a stand in a home garage in a residential neighborhood. The brisket sandwich is juicy and flavorful. The almond cookie was tender and loaded with flavor. And the peanut butter American classic cookie shines.

State Bakery is proof that you Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. For a a place that looks like a automotive shop it has the best pastries and the breakfast sandwiches are awesome.

Very good BBQ! Brisket was very good, tender and tasty with good smokiness! Pulled pork was good. German potato salad and baked beans were amazing though, definitely get them. Better than the Cole slaw and Mac n cheese. Almond croissant was ok. Roasted beets look good, next time.

The BBQ here is superb – brisket has perfect bark- excellent meat flavor not overpowered by sauce or seasoning. Maple chicken BBQ sandwich is delicious – not rubbery and on a homemade bun. Worth the stop- doesn’t look like much from the road but the food and baked goods are wonderful.

Got to this shack at 10:30. Waited in line behind 2 people. At 10:34 went up to order breakfast and was told they don’t serve breakfast after 1030 and I couldn’t order lunch until 11. She pointed to a tray of stale pastries and said that’s all they had for the next 30 minutes. I bought a $6 croissant because I was starving and after trying it, I would have been better off getting a donut from Dunkin. I guess that’s why this place can only afford to be open 2 days a week.

I love croissants and I found this place from YouTube in searching for great croissants. Unfortunately, it is just a typical good American croissant. Sure, they are flaky and looks perfect but just like any other good American croissants, they all lack of a good buttery flavor. If you compare to a real French croissant in France, the croissants over there tasted super buttery and savory.

What a find!! This very unassuming garage bakery/bbq was recommended during our trip to the finger lakes. We stopped for breakfast which literally was in a converted garage. It was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have eaten. Biscuit was home made and melted in your mouth. The brisket and egg w red pepper aoli sauce was incredible. This is a must stop when on Cayuga Lake. Only open on the weekends, but worth the wait. Can’t wait to come back this afternoon to try the brisket and bbq.

Don’t be turned away by the small look from outside. It is a clean professional bakery/smokehouse. Everything is made on premises. I had the bacon and egg biscuit. The biscuit was perfect. Great taste and texture. All the pastries have a special touch. Prices reflect hand made creative food. We will be back for sure.
