Really enjoyed our meal here. Started with our sweet server Abby who took care of us. I had the blue plate special. 1 meat and 2 sides. There were 4 meat choices and around 8 choices for sides. I went with the smothered pork chop with greens, scalloped potatoes and a buttered yeast roll. Also comes with water or tea for $12. My son, wife and mother-in-law had the Hungry Man Breakfast which came with 2 eggs, a pancake, grits or hash browns and the choice of bacon, sausage or ham for $12. When you come ask to try the “duck butter” my son loved it! Would definitely return to this restaurant!

Classic diner breakfast and lunch. Food is good but I wouldn’t call it outstanding. Just like homemade comfort food. Great atmosphere not many like this around anymore.

What a super fun local spot. Definitely a go-to for people from the area but even as visitors we still enjoyed our visit. It took 3-4 trips to our table but we finally got a waitress to crack a smile and make some small talk with us. The interior of the restaurant is fun, lots of neat decor on the walls.

I’m a sucker for breakfast all day, so the high ratings and the menu brought me in. The locally produced breakfast sausage is legit! I do like my hash browns a little crispier but that’s a personal preference. Eggs were good. Biscuit was fluffy. Sausage gravy had big ol chunks of sausage in it!

My wife enjoyed her eggs and grits as well. The waffle was light and tasty. That duck butter syrup is pretty good; my wife liked it more than me (but I’m not much on syrup).

Definitely a place to eat at while you’re in Starkville.

Went last Saturday February 21st for the first time around 10am and had to wait for a table for 30 minutes, which was no problem. We get seated and the waitress brings us water and starts asking what we want to order. Mind you, we just sat down and didn’t even have a chance to look at the menu and had never been here. We told her we needed a few minutes to look over the menu. Not kidding, 1.5-2 minutes later she comes back. We hadn’t even had enough time to scan the menu. We told her we still needed some time. She rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed and told us they have a line of people and they need to get them in and out and she doesn’t have time for us to wait any longer. “I’ll just stand here and wait for yall to figure out what you want.” So that’s what she did. She stood there and we had to randomly order something we didn’t even want. Just shouted something because it was unbelievably uncomfortable.

The real issue is that the food took 45+ minutes to come out. That is the problem, not us needing a few minutes to order….

Went here for breakfast November 26th.The place was busy but there were a good amount of wait staff for the crowd. The positive is that the food was good. Both my wife and I got the 2 egg combo with a meat, hashbrowns, and a pancake. I ordered pecan and my wife blueberry. The blueberry pancakes had a severe lack of blueberries. My pecan waffle had a good amount of pecans. My issue is that all the food came out except for my pancake. I watched other tables get their pancakes and Waffles and other food. About 10 minutes later I believe the Manager asked if we needed anything g and we advised my pancake. After another 10 minutes finally received my pancake after we had both finished as much as we could eat of our meals and were full. I accept that mistakes are made and all i would ha e liked was ownership of an error and an apology for the mix-up/delay. Not once did we get an apology or anything removed or discounted from our bill. If you can’t serve breakfast correctly, I ha enough faith you can do lunch or dinner better. I will not go back.

Saw the reviews and was very hopeful when we arrived. There was a 15 minute wait (~9am) which wasn’t bad. Got seated and our server was good for how busy they appeared. But the main reason for my low review is due to their overall bland and greasy food. The bacon was dripping and that is the first time I’ve ever had greasy eggs. I will not be returning, too expensive for the subpar food that was served.

We sat there for 20 mins before anyone waited on us. They waited on folks who came in after us first. Then our food took 30 mins to come out. All we ordered was waffle with their signature sauce. Two scrambled eggs bacon and toast . First time ever going there. No apologies from the staff, they did not care.

Classic diner, overflowing with nostalgia, local pride, and people waiting (I did visit on a football gameday morning). Nice experience. I would bet the people at the tables next to me had been coming there for many decades. The “duck butter” syrup was a fun quirk.

The staff were very friendly both times I visited. once with my girlfriend and once on my own. However, I wasn’t very impressed with the food on either visit. The restaurant has a lot of interesting vintage décor, but some items, like an old cash register covered in dust, made the place feel a bit neglected.

On the positive side, the service was great.

This place is the best place for Mon-Sun 6AM-2PM
Thurs & Fri diner 4PM-8:30PM
Great service, great food, and great atmosphere. Usually packed house, so don’t let a little wait keep you from experiencing southern hospitality at its finest.
Kimmie was my server at my most recent trip in, she was very attentive and made sure I had the best dining experience possible. From observing all the other servers they are also as incredible.

Thank you Starkville Cafe and thank you Kimmie! Only place I’ll eat breakfast in lunch while in town.
