So happy that Emanuel is back, what a great bartender! This is a really great spot for live jazz (no cover charge), unique drinks (or get the usual stuff) and a terrific 1920/30s atmosphere. Always a favorite spot. Mixed crowd of young to older folks, usually a bit more dressed up than what you find at the usual bar. I suggest making a reservation as it can be a challenge to get seats Fri Sat. Small and quaint. Great bar and cozy atmosphere. Food choices as well.

So much fun!!! You can’t use your phone inside (which is actually really nice to disconnect). Menu has incredible cocktails, staff is dressed up in 20s attire and live music with comfy vintage seating all adds to the experience. Make sure you make a reservation! But trust me, it’s worth it!

Love this joint! Cocktails are potent, I do not recommend more than two in a given night (drink plenty of water!) if you’re driving. Free local music throughout the week and dancing on Tues. nights. Great spot for a date or to simply impress friends and coworkers. Love the originality of the menu for cocktails and food – both old fashioned and modern drinks offered with inventive, original ingredients.

Great service with great drinks. Was accommodated even though I arrived without a reservation with 4 friends. Overall we really enjoyed the decor, the drinks and the live jazz band. Would definitely come back. Be aware that the drink prices are a bit expensive but are well worth it.

Went on a Friday. Was told On the phone music started at 8, didn’t until 9. Can’t get any non alcoholic drinks other than water. The waitress was very nice and attentive.the music playing over the speakers before the live was disco! Literally cool and the gang. It’s a speakeasy, they couldn’t find a jazz track to play. It’s super noisy, and cramped. So, overall, I was very disappointed. Not impressed at all. Most likely will not go back.

Kinda odd place. They really do try to keep the character going. From the door bell ring to get in to the password.

An Albany hidden gem! Spread via word of mouth by those in the know, this speakeasy embodies the rum-running days of Prohibition. Ring the doorbell on the unmarked door under City Beer Hall and those who wait will be rewarded. At absolutely no point inside can you use your cellphone, fostering an atmosphere of fun socialization with your neighbor at the bar. Highly recommend making a reservation (for tables and couches), as those without are the first to be turned away on a busy night. This is not a place to bring a large (more than 4) group. The craft cocktails live up to and exceed every expectation. Go on a week night and you’ll be rewarded with more personal service from one of the knowledgeable bar tenders, who might whip up a custom drink for you. They take pride in their creations, and it’s worth branching out past your G + T comfort zone. A live music trio in the evenings completes the thoroughly authentic 20s vibe.

We went for a girls night out celebration and it was great! The live music was awesome, the drinks were strong and delicious, and the staff is very knowledgeable about their drinks. Service was spectacular!!!! I can’t express adequately how great the staff was. Will go back for sure.

An absolute must if you value quality cocktails, thoughtful service, and the ability to hear the person next to you. I highly recommend you interact with the bartenders to let them create something for your tastes. The menu is excellent and always changing, but you might find something you never knew you liked. Be warned though, if you would rather look at you phone then take in great company you may have brought or that you might meet there, and rate drinks by how fast you got them and not the care put into them, this place is not for you.

The. Best. Cocktail. Bar. In. Albany. The bartenders here are talented. Come here to try a cocktail you want to sip and savor. Asking for a rum and coke is just disrespectful here–be brave and try something new. The atmosphere here is intimate. No cell phones allowed, cash only, dark, small, with live music most nights. This place is best for dates and small groups looking to chat and enjoy each other’s company, but if you’re downtown and alone, you can also sit at the bar and make friends with a bartender. It’s always entertaining to watch them work to make these magical creations.
