Lemon ice unlike any other. Not too sweet, with bursts of lemon zest and such a perfect soft texture. Summertime staple. The tomato pie at lunch time is my favorite with big chunks of roasted garlic and a crisp crust. Classic Schenectady.

I used to live in Schenectady and was told by a friend that I HAD to stop here before I left. Absolutely THE best eclair I’ve ever had and the Napoleon wasn’t far behind. Trying to figure out how to get some sent to Michigan already

This joint has that old neighborhood feel that I just love from growing up just outside NYC.

We ordered a tray of cookies instead of flowers for my family in Schenectady when they gathered for the passing of my cousin. Roie went above and beyond to give them a beautiful tray of cookies that everyone loved. Each one is beautifully hand-made by her! No-one wants to mourn the loss of a loved one, but I can tell you that the response from the cookies was remarkable. We were happy to show our love through this gesture and Civitello’s went above and beyond to help us share our love with family.

I stopped by today en route to visit my daughter. I asked the woman behind the counter if she had rosette cookies. She did not and walked away from me after I ordered two pastries. She took another customer’s order for subs. The younger woman stepped in to finish my order and was pleasant. The older woman just wanted my payment. She was not pleasant and rushed me to make my purchase quickly and get out. Another customer in the store confirmed they are rude to him also. Civitello’s has been part of Schenectady for years but treating customers with attitude is wrong.
