Walking distance from our accommodations made Southern Comfort an easy choice for meals during our stay in Blowing Rock. We ended up here for breakfast, lunch and dinner at different times during our stay and the food never disappointed!! Lucky me I visited during pumpkin season so of course I had to try the pumpkin pancakes and they were fabulous! Lunch choice is pictured, the club sandwich on sourdough bread .. fresh flavorful and filling .. oh and they make the chips!! Just don’t bother with a side order of fries – pictured is what we received for $1.99!! Dinner choice was country fried steak, cabbage and green beans – all fresh hot and delicious. All staff members we encountered were very friendly and attentive and on one of our visits the sweet lady at the counter was belting out Patsy Cline tunes along with the radio-so adorable! Even if you just go for one meal, give this place a try. All the normal “country fixins” at reasonable prices (except those fries yikes!) served with a smile … and maybe even a song or two 😉

Service was great! Food was more than acceptable. Everything for my lunch companion and myself was fresh and cooked to order. We went at a little bit of an off time and got a lot of attention because there were only about 4 or 5 tables. My Reuben was not the best I’ve ever had but it was proper and i certainly didn’t leave hungry. I cleaned my plate! BTW my lunch compatriot asked about it and was told the clam chowder is homemade and said it was good.

Great food, good service. Menu has a wide range of traditional southern-style food at reasonable prices. Popular spot for breakfast and lunch, especially among people who are frequent visitors to the Blowing Rock area. Open for supper on weekends — and less crowded at supper than most Boone/Blowing Rock places (so fast service).

Southern Comforts is an absolutely fantastic breakfast & lunch spot in Blowing Rock. Sorry I missed the Chicken & Dumpling Tuesday, but we loved the chicken pot pie & reuben sandwich! Unbelievable service, thank you Maria!! Friendly, unpretentious atmosphere of an old time diner. Inexpensive, great place for kids too. A must for a family meal in Blowing Rock.

I really liked Southern Comforts. The name is perfect. I felt like I was in my grandmother’s kitchen when seated in the restaurant. There was a long wait but it was worth it. Breakfast was delicious. I will definitely go again.

Stopped in while visiting Blowing Rock. This place is awesome. Friendly and attentive staff, hot food with a lot of flavor, good prices….I’m not sure what else you could ask for.
