Skipper’s II

We are a NEW restaurant called SKIPPERS II. (Not affiliated with Skippers or Rocco’s.) We are bringing new life to the old Rocco’s building, and resurrecting the friendly, welcoming, small town, bar and restaurant that Bob Heaney ran back in the day, at Skippers!! We have some of his signature items, and many of our own! ( Any menu photo that says Skippers or Rocco’s is not ours. Please bare with us as we fix the google page. It takes time.) Our launch was May 2023, and we are still expanding our menu! You will see our items under the menu selection. We would love your opinion and feedback. Please come and try our NEW establishment Skippers II !!!!

I love Skippers , the drinks are amazing. I have had several meals over the last two months, I have not had a bad meal. the steak was cooked perfect, the smash burger was very good. The tuna was AMAZING. The mashed potato’s are homemade and have a amazing taste. I had the lobster roll last weekend and it was full of chunks of lobster, it wasn’t covered in all kinds of extra flavors it was all lobster not to much butter it was prefect. Walking in is like walking into a family gathering . Greeted with hellos and welcome as soon as you step in the door .

I went there with some friends for drinks and food on Saturday night. I had the lobster roll and it was delicious! The amount of lobster you get with this order is great. You also get a side of fries and coleslaw which both tasted amazing. We will all be returning very soon for more delicious food. Shoutout to Cindy and Olivia for the great service and laughs.

I love Skippers II. My family, friends, and I have eaten there eight times since it recently opened, and we will be going back many many more times in the future. It’s cozy, with a nice beachy feel. The waitstaff and owner are friendly, and always helpful and attentive. The Smashburger is fantastic. The shrimp cocktail is huge, excellent crab cakes, giant servings of the clam strips, and the scallops. This is a perfect little place to eat, relaxing and comfortable.

We have been here a few times now…always had great meals and great service. Kudos to the owner for starting a business that allows a family of four to eat out, enjoy the quality food and the great company….at an affordable price. The Crab cakes and Salmon was the best we every had!! We will be back!

In fairness, they havejust reopened. Skippers was a well kept North Fork secret for decades. Expectations were certainly high walking in. Skippers 2 does not meet the same standard as the original. Maybe in time it will, we’ll see (but not too soon). French fries were barely warm and tasted like cardboard. They quickly replaced them, saying, “We keep them under a heat lamp, they should be hot” . YUCK, serve them FRESH. The Cod Fish sandwich was not Cod Fish , maybe frozen flounder, and quite over done. Honestly, the lunch I had rated one star, but I gave them a 3 for benefit of the doubt for being very new.

The food was pretty good. It’s a bit simple, I think the menu could of been a little more extensive especially with entree and appetizers. There were no choices with the meals other than fries or a side salad. Nevertheless the food was filling!

Reopened after a few years absence, Skippers 2 had a limited menu as part of their opening but everything we tried was great. The huge burger was delicious as well as the fried seafood platter. Looking forward to going back when they’ve got the rest of the menu ready to roll.

Steamed Clams and Crab cakes (appetizers) were very good but the menu was very limited with only overly fried and bland seafood. Menu will hopefully get better as they gear up. Burger was worthwhile.

Oof. Im VERY upset about this dinner. We ordered a beer which came only half full. I bartended myself and this glass had literally half foam and something floating in it. (Pro tip: you tilt the glass when you pour from a tap) The food was legitimately the worst restaurant food I ever had. I’ve eaten everywhere. I’ve dined at fine dining establishments to hot dog stands in Manhattan and everything in between. Please know that; so I’m not being picky. Every single person in my party thought the food was terrible. Well, except for my son who had spaghetti- he enjoyed it but they acted like I was crazy when I asked for grated cheese. “We don’t have grated cheese?!” I had a giant plate of cold, tasteless muscles. They tasted like they were boiled in plain water and then had a bland butter sauce thrown over them an hour later when cold. Really, really bad food. I’ve had school lunches back when I was in highschool that were tastier. I would have vastly preferred a buttered bagel with Doritos smashed up on it than the food served to us tonight. In fact I’ve had hospital food that tasted better. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere with tasty food. Also if look up Skippers II online; a VAST menu with tons of beautiful options came up. I was looking forward to maybe the shrimp in a sour cream sauce with mushrooms and scallions or a nice chicken marsala. We arrived to a paper menu with very few items and asked three people why the menu in the restaurant didn’t match the one online. The first waiter told us that they just opened a second location up island and the menu online was for that place. The second person told us that’s the only location and they scaled back the menu. The owner told us that she has nothing to do with the website and that the owner from when that menu was available eats at her place weekly. So why doesn’t she ask him to remove the old menu instead of the elaborate bait and switch? I can assure everyone this restaurant will not last with this chef and this menu. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY. If you’re a chef you have an opportunity to buy this place out and be successful- just watch.
