Haven’t been to this place in a few years so was surprised to see that they currently only have take-out service…..but my wife and I were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We placed our order…waited out in our car and they brought our food out to us. Liked the fact that they use fresh veggies on their sandwiches. The fact that you can order ahead and pick-up is nice for us. We plan on utilizing that service the next time we head into Houlton on business! Thank you Shamrock Cafe for fresh sandwiches!

I went by and ordered a couple of items. I thought the menu was very eclectic, but something about walking in and seeing things like barbacoa and some thai food and other stuff gave me the impression that it was curated with passion, or maybe that the person cooking the food was well-traveled.

The food is always amazing. WE know how hard you work to manage a Café and family and we appreciate everything you are doing. Keep up the good work. We love seeing the kids no matter how noisy and crazy it is because we as parents can all relate. Thank you for bringing wonderful food to this community.

This place is amazing everything is freshly cooked or made on sit it is a small family run bussiness that started up over covid. They are so friendly and will try and do anything to accommodate you needs there is a very wide range of sandwiches, wraps, pennies and salads and an even wider range of fillings. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area that wants a light snack or even quite a big meal. Prices are very reasonable and a much better option to a fast food takeaway my kids also love the place and the food they offer it also has outside seating for the nicer days we have.

I’ve eaten there a few times and always get the Ruben panini. It was very good. Perfect size, not so huge that everything is dripping out the edges. I gave it a 3 because the children running around is a bit off putting. Many people I spoke to thought they were running a day care as well as restaurantand said that they probably wouldn’t go back because of the kid or tv noise. When I was last there one of the kids, who was barefoot went in the back room by the kitchen….not only is this a health related issue, but a safety one as well. I wouldn’t think that this would fly with the Board of Health .The wife, who was very pregnant was clearly stressed out and could not even make casual conversation while customers were waiting for their orders. So other than just taking an order there is no small talk or casual chatter with customers who are waiting for their orders. It sometimes feels a bit uncomfortable while several people are standing around waiting for their meals. There is no indoor seating since the kid area takes up the other half of the restaurant. I know the business is new and I really hope they do well, but with no indoor seating and the daycare atmosphere they may not be for everyone. Trying to run a restaurant and take care of a bunch of kids with just a staff of two people is going to be hard to maintain . I’m back home for the winter, but will stop in next summer…..as I said, the food is very good. Best of luck.

New to the Houlton area and decided to stop in for a quick sandwich…delicious and satisfying. I had the chicken gyro and my husband had the french dip, both delicious and with super fresh ingredients. The gentleman working there was kind and offered up several recommendations upon my request.

Easily the best lunch spot in town. We have tried basically everything on the menu and have loved all of it. The sub roll the Italian is made on is phenomenal – homemade, fresh and not too dense. You can’t go wrong with anything you order + the owners are super nice and you can tell they really take pride in their business. Best place in town!!

My tacos were amazing! They were very well portioned and had tons of fresh herbs and Pico de Gallo which is something you don’t get much in northern Maine. Also loved the small town feel with their little kids running around and entertaining everyone. I wish it were Tuesday again to get some more!

Food tasted great but a what was supposed to be a full sized sub, was a sub with two ends but still 6 inch, for $9.00! Too expensive for a place that has no dine in and no delivery.
