Terrible experience. Charged 21$ for lunch buffet. Everything tasted bland/old and pulled from the fridge and reheated and served. Bad experience. Anytime you see buffet all day in these small establishments RUN. 90% chance you’re eating food fridged/reheated 2/3/4 sometimes even 5 days in a row.

The food was good. I usually don’t eat this type of food so I have nothing to compare it to. I have no idea what I ate (as far as the names of each dish) but I put a small portion of everything I wanted to taste since it was buffet style. To my surprise, everything was good. I cleared my plate. I went there on a “try a new mom and pop place” whim and it is now on my list of options for food in Sterling. It’s a shame that Shalimar is tucked in the middle of small businesses on the strip which makes it easy to overlook. Great food. The guy behind the counter was super nice to me and very patient. I asked what everything was before I put it on my tray and he helped me with no issue. The next time I go I will try the deserts.

A friend recommended this place, I thought this was made to order place but when I placed an order of Channa Masala and naan, the guy behind the counter took a bowl and put channa Masala from the buffet and naan from a tray. When I asked him about the freshness he said they make everything in the morning, so it’s good. It was evening and I was getting this for dinner. Anyway, at home I took one bite and threw away the rest. I didn’t even bother to call and complain because the guy already told me “freshly” made every morning. No wonder this place has only 3.8 ratings.

The food was amazing! We were just passing through the town and decided to stop here. I’m so glad we did! The buffet was a bit small, but still managed to have a good variety. The prices were reasonable. Every thing I ate was delicious. I can’t recommend it enough.

I’d like to say that i haven’t tasted such delicious Tandoori naans anywhere else in the DMV area!! I was on my way to the airport and decided to pick up naan from here and i’m so glad i did and got to taste superbly cooked soft naans. Will definitely try out their specialty menu next time i’m around the area.

The website shown on their Google page is apparently their website, but they said it’s not in use. It still accepts orders and payments though, and they haven’t removed it from the google listing. Don’t touch the website, hopefully they’ll remove it soon.

Under new ownership, the recipes and quality has changed. What was the best lamb I’ve had is now a little drier than I like. The chicken, both bone in and kabob, is significantly better than prior. Everything from meat to buffet vegetables is more spicy than previous.
