Rum is a spirt with a past like no other, transporting the imbiber through a history of past and current cultures, with every calculated sip. The story behind Rum Social mirrors the history behind the spirit of our namesake. Our landmark location here in Laguna Beach offers both elegant & romantic dining downstairs, with a lively and chic upstairs cocktail lounge befitting of the Tree House Bar name. With plush seating, tropical accents, and subtle nods to Hemingway, the restaurant is as stunning as it is delicious, from top to bottom.

We went to dinner last night at this new restaurant in Laguna Beach called Rum Social. Let me tell you, this place was incredible. The service was top notch and each dish had such a unique flare. The manager Marlene was attentive and diligent. I could tell just by what I saw she made sure that everything was running smoothly at all times. Our waiter Sam was incredible, friendly and had amazing customer service. Now let’s talk about the food. My absolutely favorite was the plantains. They were life changing. I can’t express how tasty and creative they were. Some of my second favorites were the crudo, shrimp and of course the filet. Chef Nick actually brought down a few of our dishes personally to our table which I thought was such a personal touch. This restaurant goes the extra mile with customer service and the overall experience. Chef Nick is a incredible chef with a love for food. When he was describing the dishes to us, you can tell his passion is in his cooking. I was overwhelmed with how much this place is the whole package. It’s the best restaurant in Laguna, well Orange County actually in my opinion. Wait, we didn’t talk about the desert!! WOW!! They were all delicious but, the Toffee Rum cake was my absolute favorite. It was warm and a little crunchy around the edges but, sweet and moist. A perfect way to finish off the night. We were so please with the overall experience and we can’t wait to go back. Thank you Rum Social for a wonderful night, incredible food and amazing hospitality.

Great location in downtown Laguna Beach. Nicely done interior, everything is new and modern. Menu has a lot of varieties and interesting combination of flavors . Server was very attentive. Good portions and presentation. They also have happy hours. Nice list of drinks. Did not go to the upstairs bar.

Even the good service would not bring me back. Overpriced and very average. $12 for the side of broccolini. $34 for the short ribs. No vegetarian mains. There must be better options in Laguna.

The first meal my wife and I shared as newlyweds was at Rum Social and the experience was magical! Our party included a small group of family and friends. The entire staff, kitchen crew, GMs (Jean and Marlene!), and owners could not have been more attentive or thoughtful. From the floral arrangements to the table decor, to the high-quality service, and of course the to-die-for-and-high-quality food + presentation… PHENOMENAL.

Absolutely love this place! Great new spot in Laguna Beach, I highly recommend it! Came here for my bday lunch on a Saturday and sat in a booth in the main dining room facing the ocean. The service was above and beyond! Fresh ingredients and refreshing drinks! I look forward to my next visit, thanks Executive Chef Nick! Appreciate the birthday card from the staff 🙂

Pretty nice bar with a great ambiance but the drinks are pricey. The dude I was with was being a douche and said, make it strong, so she did but charged us for it. Turned out to be a $19 drink so maybe I need to upgrade my friends.

Genuinely surprised by reading the other reviews. I thought this place needed a lot more. The ambiance was the best part about this spot. The service was okay. The drinks were awful (extremely limited selection). The cocktail we tried tasted like soap. The food wasn’t anything special either. We left after the appetizers. Definitely has the potential to be a great spot but it just did not do it for us.

Very cute place for date night. I recommend making advanced reservation for outdoor dining upstairs. It’s beautiful with the lights at night time. Must try their bread and pineapple butter! For cocktails with rum and tequila, you can request the drinks with no alcohol. The mojito smash with no alcohol was very refreshing! The Island Mixto Ceviche is my favorite.
