Nice little place to eat and watch manatee and dolphins.

one of Anna Maria Island’s true treasures is a fairly dilapidated-looking old pier called the Rod & Reel. The Rod & Reel Pier offers casual dining for the whole family with unbelievable views of The Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay!

We ordered the clam strips and the blacked shrimp skewer as an appetizer, they were both phenomenal! The FRESHEST clams I have ever had. I also had the Steak and Cheese sandwich which was great! My boyfriend had the SWORDFISH special and said it was phenomenal and the only thing that would have made it better was if having it blackened was an option. My sister in law had the grouper sandwich and she said it was great and there was at least 1 lb of grouper on her sandwich. This place is very family oriented with great hostess and waitresses! We tipped our waitress well because there wasn’t a moment that we didn’t see her! Overall the best place we have ate in the Sarasota/Anna Maria, Fl area. Highly recommend!!

The food was very good here, as well at the atmosphere. The grilled veggies were freshly cut, not watery, and had a flavorful seasoning. The homemade gumbo was perfectly seasoned. The scallops were cooked just right but they were pretty small, they do give you a lot though. The birds on the pier are cool too. I would come back!

Nice set up on the pier. Not much tables but it’s great. The service was excellent. The food was great. The food was fresh and tasty. Saw some dolphins swim by while we ate.

The five stars is mostly due to how much the spirit makes you feel like you’re in Old Florida. As a local broker people always ask me what to do and where to go, and this would be top 10 for Anna Maria Island. We did have lunch here I got the grouper Reuben. It came out fast and was pretty good. Jeff got the peel and eat shrimp said that it was wonderful. He just doesn’t like as much horseradish in his cocktail sauce. This place has a beautiful feeling to it it’s like going back in time. I absolutely love a bike ride here and a cup of chowder at the bar that seats 4-5 people. Rod and reel pair is iconic for the area. It’s a must see.

I have mixed reviews about this restaurant. On our first visit, the waitress was efficient even though she was very busy. My blackened grouper with rice was very tasty. My wife enjoyed her blackened scallops too.

The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. We love the pier. Our server was very professional and knowledgeable. The team worked together, and it was smooth. The meals were worth coming back for. As we had hoped-for.

The water is beautiful around the pier with lots of birds and fish. We even spotted a couple of manatees passing by. My husband and I had the fried grouper sandwiches, which were pretty good. One of my daughters had the fried oyster poor boy(more bread than oysters), and my other daughter had the BLT. The BLT was good. The staff and service were ok at best.
