A place where you feel like a kid again, a neighborhood legend, and a great spot to grab a soft serve! They are known for their egg creams but I went with a lighter option, a vanilla soft serve. Definitely check him out if you’re in Alphabet City, or just hanging out at Tompkins Square Park.

I saw a YouTube video about Ray and knew I had to visit the next time I was in town! That I did, pictures were taken April 8th, 2023. Ray is a New York institution, and it was great to see him in action doing what he loves. We got the egg cream and fried Oreos. Absolutely delicious! Prices are as retro as the decor. Great experience, highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!

The place has awesome character and seems full of history. Didn’t get to meet Ray but could see some of his personality in the place.

You’ll want to make sure to order the EGG CREAM and you’ll STILL get the perfect preparation from Ray, even if his hand’s a little shaky. Milk and syrup with a spritz, par excellence. Don’t miss this hidden NYC gem.

If you don’t like Ray’s then your inner child must totally be dead. Or you just need to return to your spaceship, yacht or country club.

I’ve been eating here my whole life until Ray let two girls with attitude problems make the food…disgusting to be honest. Never had a worst hot dog in my life. Funny because Ray used to have some of best hot dogs in town growing up. Food went in the garage and I hope the money goes to Ray’s medical bills or something because that restaurant is a train wreck now. The other one star reviews make sense when reading them.

Pure confection perfection! Got the vanilla chocolate swirl ice cream and it’s the best I’ve ever had! I thought all soft serve was the same but Ray’s soft serve is simply the best! It’s so smooth and creamy! Also, be sure to grab some fried Oreos (they’re what he’s known for). We even saw the legend, Ray, in the back making them himself! Definitely recommend trying something here! I promise everything is good and you won’t regret it 🙂
