Found this location by checking for BBQ nearby, what a great find!! Excellent venue in the old restored grist mill!! Outstanding food items enjoyed by all four of us! Ribs, pulled pork (2 orders), and combo platter. Enjoyed the sides as well, beans, Cole slaw had good flavor, corn maque choux enjoyed for it’s bit of kick of heat, Mac n cheese nice, and corn bread with honey finished a great meal for all!! Good service for our after 1pm arrival, reservations are suggested which we didn’t have and still were seated quickly and ended up in a room by ourselves after large group left. Great atmosphere which the owner said previous owners completed prior to their purchase. They are surviving the pandemic by the skin of their teeth thank heavens!! Please support this location locally! We need great places to survive to enjoy once again as we get back out to enjoy ourselves!! Check it out when you are in the area, or make a short drive south of Dubuque to Bellevue!!

We were at the state park and decided to stop for lunch. It was Sunday Brunch so the menu was limited. For was southern creole and BBQ based. I had seafood pasta, very salty. Husband had BBQ sandwich. It looked good. My son’s chicken was quite overdone. Wish we could have tried some options on the regular menu.

What a gem. Impeccable service with genuinely friendly staff, great drinks and atmosphere and the food, wow, the food. Our table had burnt ends, steak, blackened catfish and shrimp with grits. Every plate emptied, every bite was delicious. Don’t pass on this place. Will be back.

Friendly staff, good food, nice atmosphere. We were there around 3pm so they were not busy. I had the shrimp cheese grits and they were delicious.

We ordered for take out and the gentlemen who took our order was nice enough to tell us they had just gotten two huge groups and it may be an hour but he’d be happy to call us when it was done (who does that anymore!) So, I’m liking this place already, but then we get our food! I got the blackened catfish topped with Crab Meat & Lightly Drizzled with Bearnaise Sauce (to die for); hub got the breaded catfish, light and fresh, excellent. The gumbo was authentic and soooo tasty and Fried Green Tomatoes for our appetizer, with three dipping sauces, unbelievable for such a small town.

My wife and I were own our way to see Cody Jinks in Dubuque and we made reservations for 5:00 we got there seated ordered our drinks got an appetizer of fried pickles which they were delicious and I ordered Smoked Prime Rib with Mac & Cheese and a side salad for my two sides. My wife ordered the combo Pulled Pork Brisket and Sausage with Mac & Cheese and a side Salad. Everything was cooked to perfection. The owner stopped by our table twice to make sure we were pleased. I can’t say enough about this place. Nice light blues music playing in the background. The staff was very good and pleasant. That was our 5th time being there and have enjoyed it every time we leave there full and with a box of food for later.

Potters Mill earned a 5 star rating. The resturant/bar has a lot of charm with all the antiques and barn wood. The resturant and bathrooms were clean. The service is excellent. They were friendly and very attentive. The brisket was tender and the serving size was enough for 2 people. The owners are present and very invested to ensure your experience is pleasant. The Blues Band was excellent. We will definitely be returning.
