Delicious carne guisada plate – guisada was perfectly prepared, refried beans were smoky and creamy and the Mexican rice was on point. Homemade tortillas were large and warms and soft. Lettuce, tomato, and avocado salad on the side was fresh accompaniment. Will come back to try the rest of the menu!

I actually had eaten here Year’s ago, like 20 A friend of mine said let’s go try Porras so on a Saturday morning we go get our Taco fix as we go in I noticed the interior hasn’t changed much, I ordered a carne guisada taco it was avarge,as far as customer service goes it was ok as we are sitting there eating I noticed it was a little warn so we ate and left as quick as we could. I do plan on going back to try some other items. I ordered a chocolate cookie to go, unfortunately I was very disappointed, it was tasteless and extremely dry.. Porras has been around for ever and I hope people continue to stop by and try it for themselves..

Best flour tortilla tacos on the Eastside. I’ve been going there for over 40 years. I usually get their bacon and egg, carne guisada, chorizo and beans, or chicharron. Their Ms. Nancy taco is also pretty good.

Ordered breakfast tacos of Chorizo con Huevo. Tacos were huge, but not very tasty. Friend dining with us ordered eggs a la Mexicana. Bit on an egg shell. Told cashier. Said she would tell. Cook. Apologized, but did not even offer to exchange or make another. Cashier not very friendly. Mexican sweet bread was not fresh. Concha and quernito were hard as a rock, even the empanadas. . Not returning.

Porras has always been my go to when I am visiting Houston. I’ve been at this restaurant for 30 years. Great people, and amazing food. From tacos, and burritos, and all the way to daily fresh baked Mexican pastry. If you love authentic tex-mex. You got to stop here. Rene and his staff will welcome all that has a huge appetite.
