I have been going to Penelope’s for a few years now, its a very good restaurant and the prices are excellent. You can usually walk out with a meal for two under 25 dollars and the servings are pretty large. The decor is rather outdated but it doesn’t change the taste of the food. Kids even get coloring books and crayons when they are seated. Its a great place to take the family but if taking a large group I would call ahead of time since it can get pretty busy there. But again great food and just as good prices.

This was a great place to go and enjoy brunch. The Greek platter consisted of a variety of Greek meats and cuisine, and was cooked exactly the way it should have been. The venue is nice, the atmosphere is quiet, and the surrounding area replicates that is well. Penelope’s is a testament to the classic “family restaurants” of the 80’s, and is definitely somewhere I’d recommend for anyone whom enjoys that style of cuisine.

My family has come here as a Sunday tradition for almost three years. The honestly food, the impeccable hospitality, the pleasant low-energy atmosphere, and the spacious accommodations keep us coming back. I highly recommend Penelope’s to anyone who enjoys the bygone era of luxurious diner lunches. Penelope’s is a Milwaukee must-go for anyone passing through, epitomizing Midwestern living, and certainly a delight for any more permanent resident

My husband and I decided to try Penelope’s for brunch a few Sundays ago. They were quite busy, however, we were sat immediately. After waiting quite some time with no water or even a greeting from our server, one finally came over, who was quite frazzled and obviously in- over-her-head. (She was quite a bit older). We ordered simple breakfasts and juice. She didn’t get our juice for about another 10 minutes, and the food didn’t come for quite awhile after that. My husband’s pork was way too overcooked and tasted horrible. I had an egg scrambler, which was ok except for the canned mushrooms. (I had specifically asked if they serve fresh ones, and our server said “yes”). What baffled us the most is that Elm Grove is a wealthy area, and you’d think a quaint little spot like this right in the heart of the village would cater to the supposedly “finer” tastes of the town. Very very average in every aspect. We’ll stick to our tried and true Tosa faves.

I went here with a friend on the Saturday the town had a kickoff to the holidays. The french dip was by far the worst I’ve ever had, the meat was thick and tough and served on a stale bun. I couldn’t eat it. The person at the register was in a bad mood (older gentleman, owner?) and didn’t even look up when he ran the credit card. It was not a pleasant meal.

Classic small town Greek-themed diner that’s become an Elm Grove institution. Typical Greek fare is offered; the gyros are really good. Fish fries every day are a plus. Quiet, mellow, friendly service, very competitive prices.

Every few months on our trip to the MKE Zoo, we make it a point to stop at Penelopes. We came across the place on accident when meeting a friend for breakfast near his house, and have since really taken well to the place! Wait staff is excellent, fair prices, fast service.

I love this diner. Booze, breakfast all day, good coffee. They make a good Monte Cristo. Waitresses are hella cool. Frequented by old folks. Know that the chicken pot pie is actually some kind of flaky pastry dropped into a skillet of filling, rather than an actual pie.

I was so impressed with the excellent customer service in Penelope’s. This cafe caters to people to please them. The Greek salad with meat added is excellent. The food came amazingly fast!
