I’ve been coming to Pastigel for a couple of years now. It’s nice to have a bakery right in downtown Elgin. We noticed that they opened up a Mexican/Columbian restaurant in the downstairs area, a change that I’m really happy with. The area is comfortable and has a relaxing vibe. The food is good and, like always, the staff are welcoming and pleasant. I’d love to see this little restaurant grow into something more!

I don’t know if they changed owners or recipe but their prices have gotten really high and the quality has plummeted,all the bread I got was hard and we got it from different cabinets. It was very disappointing,I don’t mind spending more but when I got home I couldn’t believe how hard all the bread was must have been from a day old or something,I tried their tamales which are also not cheap and there’s only a slider of meat. I thought maybe it was the one I got but when I opened the rest of the tamales either red or green only a little meat and we got 6-green and 6-red,we have gone twice this year and same thing but prior to 2023 the bread was cheaper and wayyyyyy more soft. Unfortunately I would not be coming here again it used to be way better

We ordered a Birthday cake for my son’s 3rd birthday and it was DELICIOUS! Super moist the filling was exactly what I wanted. Be cautious about the dye used for the frosting. They did warn us about using black so we went with grey and green(which still stains) Other than that highly recommend this place. They have a great selection of sweets. We will be ordering from them again!

I used to come here years ago and now that I’m back from college it still gives me the same feelings. How I missed the smell of pastries and sugar. Everyone is so nice and everything is so delicious. Generously priced and beautiful.

Haven’t been here in awhile. Since we were going to be near Elgin, we wanted to make sure to pick up the elephant ears. We picked out 4 small ones. Seemed higher priced as they were $6, but didn’t ask any questions as the music was playing loudly. What is upsetting is that the pastries were extremely hard. Must have been made a few days ago. Guess some things have changed…certainly won’t be going back!!

Mexican bakery with huge selection of breads, desserts, danish, cookies, cakes and much more. I personally did not liked much. I picked up few items and taste was okay. Not too pricey. Breads are soft and fresh.
