Paon has become the “place to go” in Carlsbad Village for special occasions, polished corporate events or simply to indulge in a wonderful meal and glass of wine after work. In addition to the elegant art deco dining room and plush cocktail lounge with plenty of seating of its own, the adjacent wine bar has recently been transformed and is another option for hungry visitors as well as loyal regulars of Paon. The menu will feature seasonal, locally grown, organic produce along with escargot, oysters, charcuterie, prime steaks, duck confit, scallops and other daily specials for a refreshing selection of slightly lighter plates that pair perfectly with the world class wines Paon is famous for.

We went for a belated Mother’s Day lunch and were super happy with everything! Great wine menu, the food was delicious, the ambience is beautiful, and our server was funny and helpful. We sat outside which was great for a kiddo. Would definitely go back. Would like to check out their wine tasting room as well.

Eugene was friendly and highly professional and accommodating. The owner Steve was very personable and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Came upon the tasting room area that’s connected to the restaurant but was able to have dinner here. It was nice and quiet with only two gentlemen at the bar area. Roxanne, our server, was very attentive and personable. We ordered off the “bar” menu which had smaller portions and it was perfect for us. I enjoyed the Duck Confit and hubby had the Angus burger, both prepared very well. We had a Zinfandel and Cabernet to accompany it. So glad we walked into the tasting room area instead of the restaurant.

Very rude and unprofessional staff. I placed an order online and drove 10 minutes to their location to pick up my own food. When I went to pay the bill, some raunchy old red haired lady working at the bar accused me of trying to “bring the total down” and charged me extra on the receipt without my permission. As a customer, I do not owe you ANY TIP whatsoever if I have to drive to your restaurant, pick up my own food, drive home, and serve myself. I will never order from or dine in at this place again, and that lady should be fired for taking advantage of customers like that. The prices on the website menu are also not accurate, stay away from this place. Food is mediocre at best…

Great food and service! Only thing I would have to complain about is I wish they had a cocktail menu. This place is well known for their wine selection and they have many awards to back it up, I’m just not a wine guy Never the less, my fiancé and I had a wonderful time and enjoyed everything we ordered.

Longtime favorite Carlsbad restaurant. Classy and cozy atmosphere inside with fantastic patio seating as well. The gnocchi and scallops are the favorite dishes of all time! Service is 10 stars along with a spectacular wine list. Come her to find that rare bottle of Screaming Eagle or just sip some fine Angel’s Envy Bourbon.

We wanted a special lunch for a birthday! We were made welcome, served delicious food, and a birthday dessert! The seared yellowfin tuna was perfect. She had the prawns. We are looking forward to our next visit to the “Peacock”, or Paon, in French.
