I hate to leave a bad review but the pasta Cacio Pepe was not good. The sauce was watery and not flavorful. I had the Caesar salad and it was a tiny portion and barely any dressing and no cheese on it. Not what I was expecting with all these good reviews. I will not be returning,

Attended a small retirement dinner. Food was excellent, as well as service by wait staff and owner. Very genuine folks! We’ll be back.

Had really high hopes for Pane e Bene, but unfortunately our pick up meal was terribly bland and underwhelming. We ordered escargot, Cornish hen, beet salad, linguini vongole, and tiramisu (our bruschetta was forgotten). The Cornish hen was just four wings with a side of unseason boiled broccoli and potatoes. Our salad was just a huge pile of leaves with a few almost raw beets, and both sea food dishes were unmemorable. I think their expansive menu is one of the pitfalls here. Jack of all trades, master of none. The tiramisu is what kept this review from being one star. Happy we finished dinner on a high note, as the tiramisu was quite tasty, but we sadly will not be returning.

I hate to write a bad review, but when you spend money it’s upsetting when you receive a poor quality meal. I had the lasagna it was dry with barely any sauce, tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for days and reheated…and the wine selection was not good either – not sure why there are so many 5 star reviews…maybe we just hit it on a bad day?

Had a fabulous dinner this past Thursday night with my parents at Pane e Bene. My dad had Sea Bass, which was a special. My mom also had a special; Blackened Scallops and Shrimp, with Saffron Risotto. I had Cavatelli con Salsiccia, homemade cavatelli with Italian sweet sausages, mushrooms, and marinara sauce. So good. We shared the escargot and grilled calamari as appetizers. Brittany was our server, so friendly and knowledgeable about all of the dishes. My mom especially loved her Limoncello cocktail. Can’t wait to go back!

Food was ok, but not worth the price. The owner was rude and defensive responding to a simple inquiry about the menu. Additionally, he claimed that they only use the best ingredients, to justify the price, but that clearly wasn’t true given the deli ham and frozen peas included in the dish. As the owner told me, I have choices in Westport and he doesn’t care if I frequent his restaurant. Given the amount of really good restaurants in Westport, no need to spend your money here.

I guess our experience was considerably different from most people who dine here. There was not a single dish that impressed us: everything needed salt, the “flatbread” base was like a Boboli pizza crust, and the marinara (exactly the same on the fried zucchini and the ravioli) was watery and thin. Based on this experience, we would not return.
