I had an amazing experience here. The food is almost as good as that of a 3-star restaurant. Standouts were the foie gras, cauliflower, the Mexican sea urchin creation, and venison. I wish they replaced the wagyu with something else since it was too rich. Service was perfect. The space is beautiful.

Phenomenal. Handily beats out all the other Michelin level restaurants in Chicago, including the ones with 3 stars. The food never skips a beat, the wine pairing is amazing, and the service is impeccable. We also kept it at 2.5 hours- not a drawn out overly laborious dinner for the sake of being.

Special shoutout- for as much Wagyu as I’ve enjoyed over the years, to include in Kobe Japan, somehow this was the best I’ve ever had.

When making a comment that my wife may not love the Wagyu course- simply making conversation as it’s not her favorite- they adjusted on the fly and brought out a lobster tail instead. We were stunned that they adjusted and whipped it up instantly. That’s another level to sub one Michelin level dish for another.

The wines were expertly paired with each of the dishes as well. Not one miss and some absolute bangers at the highest level pairing they offer.

As for service- amazing and fun staff! Instant connections with a number of the team which made the time all more enjoyable.

Highly recommend flying into Chicago just to experience this place. Hopefully we’ll come back.

Edit: Google is adding random labels to photos- they are all wrong.

Coming straight from The French Laundry, I was curious whether Oriole could meet that same level of service and culinary excellence—and wow, it absolutely did.

From start to finish, the experience was off the charts. The service was flawless, thoughtful, and genuinely warm. Every detail felt intentional. And the food? Incredible. Creative, perfectly executed, and something you truly have to experience for yourself.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back.

I attended Oriole on Friday 1/16 for the 8:30pm service. It was an outstanding 3 hour dining experience.
From the moment we walked in, we didn’t even have to think, simply take in the incredible attention to detail and beautifully prepared and delicious food.
I brought a clutch to dinner and before I even sat down there was a little table next to my chair to place my clutch!
We entered into this old loft elevator to have some tea before our first stop at the bar.
There we had 3 small seafood oriented dishes. It was a fabulous start to the evening.
Then we went into the kitchen and stood at “the pass” where, i have to admit, may have been my favorite bite: HUDSON VALLEY FOIE GRAS with California fig Pink, peppercorn and oxalis served in a brioche bun.
Then we were seated at our table where we enjoyed the remainder of our dishes. Service was incredible all around.
I keep trying to name my favorite dishes but it’s too hard. Here are my top 4 (in no particular order)
1. A5 wagyu ribeye
2. Hudson Valley Foie Gras
3. Venison
4. Cauliflower
I do not drink and while I was interested in the non alcoholic pairing (additional $95) i ultimately decided to opt out. My friend selected it and passed me a few sips and I will say each “pairing” really complemented the dish. I believe the non alcoholic pairing was curated by the mixologist from Kumiko.

I’ve found that with restaurants the quality almost goes up exponentially with price as long as you’re careful with where you go. This is the most expensive restaurant I’ve been to, it’s twice the price of the 1-star I went to in Chicago a year ago, but it’s at least four times as good (and 1* El Ideas was terrific!). It’s a bit more expensive than 2* Acquerello in SF but even better of an experience (both are highlights of my life). I’ll add to this review later but of the 17 courses, 14 were one of the best things I’ve ever eaten (other 3 were merely very good), the n/a pairing is fantastic, and I don’t think there’s a better way to spend time or money than this. Two dishes straight up made me cry

What an outstanding place! Everything was just perfect to the last little detail. Starting with a cup of tea and surprising entrance! Going through different “stations” watching the way some courses are prepared was such an amazing treat for the eyes. Every detail of every dish was just made to perfection. Not only a taste but also a visual presentation . There is not enough words to describe the feeling, you just have to visit and experience yourself !

Exquisite service, food, and atmosphere. Very detail is attentive as you are guided around the dining space to explore the food at various destinations within the space. Would recommend: the non alcoholic tea pairing with food. Favorites: any of the fresh fish dishes and the turbot with dill sauce.

Amazing service and food. They made me feel so welcome as a lone diner and I enjoyed every minute I was there, especially getting to see the chefs at work. I just which I had a second stomach to be able to eat even more of their fantastic food!

The vibe at this place was almost like a speakeasy. Hidden away behind an old school elevator, we were first given an amuse at the bar, then another bite at a table by the kitchen, before being led to our table. The table was huge! Almost as big as a table you see at dim sum places. This spaciousness along with ample spaces in between tables created a very relaxed and intimate atmosphere.

The food was amazing overall. We loved how creative the dishes were while being absolutely delicious. The earlier courses were on the sweet side and could use some editing to rein that in a bit. My favorite was the pasta course.

I tried the spirit free pairing, and the drinks were just as creative and tasty as the courses. I’d highly recommend it.

Overall a really great meal!

Really nice dining experience and superb service! We came with very high expectations and the level of service definitely did not fall short! The food however was a hit and miss and a bit underwhelming, perhaps past menus were a bit better judging by the pictures. Overall a great experience, but not wow.
