It’s a classic diner feel. On travel days, plan to wait a minute for a seat. It is worth the wait. All kinds of nostalgia on the walls and some snarky stuff. Food is diner fare and tasty. The staff is awesome.

Googled placed to eat on our way out of the OBX. Mel’s looked promising being that options were limited. Walked in and stood at the front door for 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Servers walked past several times. Finally got sat and waited another 10 just to order drinks. Waited almost an hour for a salad and cheeseburger. The food was awful. We didn’t even finish. The server never came back to check on us. We just paid and left.

A nice piece of nostalgia to add to a family’s treasure trove of beach trip memories. Our stop at Mel’s on the way out was a wonderful experience to top off our family’s annual trip to the outer banks. Service was pleasant and kind. The tunes and decor set a fun and funky Americana of bygone days vibe. And everything we ordered was delicious- pancakes, French toast, biscuits and gravy, hash browns and bacon. Definitely one to add to the ‘must do’ list while visiting OBX.

Love the place. Its not the new normal of chain restaurants. A good ol greasy spoon. If your looking for fancy, this aint your place. Best burger fries and shakes around!

We were driving by and decided to stop on a whim. Cute little diner with good food. Friendly staff. Not somewhere I’d go out of my way to stop at. We had pancakes that were huge, the kids loved their milkshakes, club house sandwich, I thought it wouldn’t be processed meat, but still very tasty, and a hamburger. In the end would stop there again instead of a chain restaurant if we were passing by.

My sons and I went in for a quick bite. It’s one of the few places within 20-30 min to eat. There was one very friendly and good waitress working. Decent food with a friendly waitress. They do have picnic tables if you don’t wanna be inside.
