Social Profile:

An elevated dining experience that combines a seasonal New Asian cuisine, exquisite wine selection, and world-class service in a vibrant and welcoming space. Our menu is handcrafted by the renowned Executive Chef Jess De Guzman, a Chicago-native sushi chef with over 20 years of restaurant experience. He sought to honor the unique flavors from the Far East, from the layered spices found in the Vietnamese-inspired Saigon Salad, to the umami Filipino Adobo Braised Pork Belly, to the fresh and briny Japanese sushi hand rolls. Mata Ne in Japanese translates to “see you soon.” We want our guests to feel as comfortable as they would coming back home to their families after a long day. That’s why we don’t say sayonara, but rather, Mata Ne!

Great alternative to driving to the city for good sushi in the western suburbs. The place nicely setup, but the tables are a bit close together. Rolls were very fresh and not overly dressed with ingredients which is what I like. Ordered crispy rice spicy tuna which was not a favorite but still good…chili tuna, dragon fire, and caterpillar rolls— all which were great. Will visit again!

10/10 recommend Mata Ne to everyone! The food is delicious. Ate just about every sushi roll on the menu and we are big Sushi lovers. Every roll was fantastic. The service was great. Everyone is very welcoming and we had higher up staff check in with us to make sure everything was going well. Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. Very happy with our experience for a special date night out. Can not wait to go back!

Mata Ne just became a new favorite spot! We live in Naperville and we have plenty of options. We heard about Mata Ne and their Chef, so we made the 20 min drive to Elmhurst to give it a try. Neat space, has a “downtown vibe” which is hard to explain. Food was really good – Spring rolls were a big favorite, Tiger Shrimp tempura was a nice starter, Brussel & Kale salad was light – crispy and packed with flavor. Nice wine list, several familiar options, and others I’d not recognized. We asked a few questions and immediately were introduced to their Sommelier (yes they have an actual Sommelier), Andrew who was fantastic with helping us through the wine list as well as the menu! Spicy Tuna Carpaccio was fresh and clean with a nice presentation. Truffle Honey Chicken was rediculous, I’m not sure how to describe the flavor, just lightly breaded with panko and a sweet drizzle. They had a black cod dish what simply melts in your mouth with a side of broccolini (I love broccolini). Didn’t have desserts but the key lime pie looked good. The place was busy, but not too busy. I was told they’re still working on more outdoor tables which will help. I’ll be back.

Best Asian food around! My family got an assortment of entrees, apps, and sushi to get a whole picture of what this restaurant is all about. Each dish and roll blew us away. Already planning on going back in the next week or so- highly recommend to anyone in the Chicago area for dine in or take out.

We had a good experience. I was with a party of 11. The food was very good and the portion sizes are large, borderline excessive in some cases.

After having a horrible experience the first time coming here (which we gave a pass due to it being the Elmhurst block party), we decided to come for a celebratory dinner last night. Got a babysitter and decided to do an early 6pm dinner on a Tuesday, since there was no way it could be bad on an off night right? Wrong…in fact it may have been a worse experience since we didn’t even get to finish dinner.

I can’t say enough great things about Mata Ne. We have so many sushi places in Elmhurst but there was a reason I always drove to Hinsdale or the city for my sushi. Not anymore!

So lucky to be a part of the dream shared by Andrew, ,Aeron and Jesse, Mata Ne’s Michelin chef. After sharing dinner at the restaurant with our guests, they were blown away with the vibe, the fabulous food and the wine pairings that Andrew (wine sommelier extraordinaire) would suggest. Textures, flavors and some of the best sushi I’ve ever had!! A new restaurant surely not to be missed! Always a joy to return!!! PS. IF sushi isn’t your thing, so many other wonderful Asian dishes to experience!!

We went for our daughter’s birthday. Food is not the problem. But service was really terrible. We ordered two seafood dynamites. They didn’t come for 45 mins. We had to remind them two times. And they came just before we were leaving. Our waitress was kind of lost. It was very hard to get to her. We had to wait almost 20 mins to order additional items. I had to ask three times just to get a paper napkin. And the “funniest” part was that three different waiters brought us beignets and edamame that we didn’t order. Aaaaand they were included in the bill. Really disappointing experience and will never go again for sure.
