Historic venue for live music. Some bunch of bands back in the day. Neworleanians pronounce it roulay, but it’s really something like ‘rule’.

Be warned. They over sell the small venue. You will pay the cover, as 4 of us did, and never be able to squeeze in to the music room behind the bar. $100 down the drain and no music. Asked politely for some mercy but the door guy was a hard no.

If you want to experience the true essence of New Orleans, this place achieves that in every way. Truth be told, many places in New Orleans achieve that, but of all the places we went to during our stay in this fabulous city, this place was our favorite. Why? The regular weekly occurance (every Thursday when we were here) of the Soul Rebels, a New Orleans institution band. There are a ton of great, authentic NOLA bands in this city, but these guys blended traditional horns with soul and hip-hop into a seemless potpouri of funky good times. And they played 2 long sets, so we were spent after that fantastic show.

Place is overpriced for a dive. A highlife is 3.75. But they have pool tables. Nights with music probably ok. Really only one of two places open in morning hours uptown.

Attracted by the seating outside on a sunny day, we walked in late morning to find a couple locals playing pool to hip hop music. This is a chill, local place that serves local and international drinks.
